The scene was detrimental, as the beautiful hotel was turned into shambles. Vases were broken into pieces, spread through the floor, counter tops with splashes of blood, guests lying on the floor trembling in fear, flowers ruined with bullet holes...a disaster!
The two bandits took a look around, and when straight for the counter side, where a man had his hands raised. Hondo and Deacon ducked down in the balcony, glad the assailants hadn't spotted them.
"I thought they were looking at us." Hondo said breathing hard. He turned his back to the wall, as the two ladies were still covering their ears, hugging the corner wall near them.
"No, they must've been looking at the chandelier. I think it covered us." Deacon said as he took a glimpse down
"We gotta get the ladies out... to safety" Hondo said as he looked everywhere, suddenly remembering he had already gone through every door with no avail.
"Ok" Deacon said as he pulled out his vibrating phone, "It's Chris. Texted they're on the way!"
"If Luca's driving, they're about 15 minutes out."
"Not with this traffic!" Deacon said with a pessimist tone
They heard a commotion downstairs and both bolted towards their lady companions. Screams and running were heard, but none of the four adults in the balcony knew what was going on as they headed to the far end, down the stairs.
"Deac, stairs!" Hondo said as he pointed towards the staircase to their far right.
POW! POW! POW!
All four ducked, as the loud sound of shots resonated through the hotel lobby. People screamed in fear, as Nichelle stumbled and let out a cry.
"Ahhh" she said almost tumbling down. Hondo immediately went to her, grabbing her by the arm and waste.
"Nichelle, baby, you aight?" he asked concerned, as he took a closer look at her.
POW! POW!
Annie was now crying in fear, as the echos of the sounds made her cover her ears and tears ran down her cheeks. "David?" she whispered, holding on to his left arm.
"It's okay. You're ok. I'm here." Deacon whispered in her ear, as he hugged her tight.
Both men directed the females to the stairs, thinking it'd be the only place to protect them from the line of fire.
"It was just my heel. I'm okay" Nichelle responded, still shaken up. Hondo bent down to check on her leg.
"Deac, we gotta keep those perps from coming in the hotel. Keep em in the lobby and then move em back!"
POW! POW! POW!
"Let's secure the women first!" Deacon insisted, as both guided the women to the landing area of the first flight of stairs. Thankfully both women were physically ok, though scared to death. Nichelle broke the heel of her right shoe and Annie had a headache, but other than that they were okay. They sat down, as the men instructed them to stay down and quiet. Then, both men took out their service gun and proceeded down.
"Hondo" Deacon called as Hondo set up post, hiding behind the column to the side of the staircase. From there they could see that the armed men were taking out some type of string and tying the few guests that remained upright. Many were lying on the floor, injured.
"They're taking hostages" Hondo called, "We can't stay here. We gotta push em back."
"We don't have enough fire power, plus we can't leave Annie and Nichelle." Deacon insisted, as he paused to look back, hoping both ladies were ok and calming down, even though that seemed monumental at this moment in time! "I say we keep post and wait for backup. Luca must be -"
