"Hey, babe," I said cheerfully entering my shared hotel room with Ashlyn and kissing her cheek.

"Hey." She said dryly not even moving her attention from the tv. I frowned and sat next to her. She had been acting like this for a couple of days now and I was starting to get worried. She's usually cheerful and optimistic but now all she wants to do is stay in bed, she doesn't even try at practices, she snaps at people a lot, and she basically ignores me.

"You okay?"

"Yes."

"God! I already said yes just stop fucking asking!" She yelled making me back down. She never yells at me.

"Fine!" I yelled as I grabbed my phone and left the room. I went down to the pool and sat on one of the beach chairs looking at my phone. I just want to help her.

I know things aren't the same without Y/n but how does she think I feel the way she's been acting isn't making it any better. Y/n has been deployed for almost three years now and I want nothing more than for her to be holding me right now.

The whole team has been affected by her absence. She's the kind of person who would light up any room and she was always able to cheer everyone up. The people who were affected the most were me and Ashlyn of course because were her girlfriends but also Tobin. Y/n and Tobin are best friends and Tobin did not take it well when she left. Although she has gotten better things just aren't the same. Tobin even cried when she left and she doesn't cry a lot.

I was brought out of my thoughts by my phone ringing. I looked at the contact and a wide smile spread across my face as I answered it.

"Hi, baby!" I exclaimed excitedly making her chuckle. Oh my god, that smile.

"Hey princess."

"When are you coming home?" I asked making her sigh. I ask this question every time but I just miss her so much.

"Uh unfortunately I think they extended my deployment by three weeks princess." She said making me frown.

"What! No! They can't do that your contract ends in a week you were supposed to be back in a week." I said angrily making her look down.

"I know princess and I'm sorry but there's not much I can do right now but I promise I'll come back to you as soon as I can."

"Whatever." I wanted to tear those military people to prices right now.

"Please don't be mad at me princess." She said making me look down. It was silent for a minute before she spoke again.

"Where's Ash?"

"I don't know," I mumbled making her furrow her eyebrows.

"What do you mean you don't know? Y'all are usually together, what happened?"

"She's just... having a hard time right now and she really misses you and it's dramatically affected her mood. She's no longer cheerful and happy now she just stays in bed all day, barely tries at practice, she's kinda being mean to me, and snaps at people. We also got into a little fight before this. Tobin and I have been trying to help her but she won't let us." I said and teared up when I saw her face. She looked like someone just killed her puppy.

"God, it's all my fault. She begged me not to join and I-

"No! Don't you dear blame yourself do you hear me? I get this is hard for all of us but it's not your fault your doing what you love just like us and that's what matters. Don't ever feel bad for going after your dreams." I said making her nod.
