Levi was walking around the corridor and stood in front of commander Erwin's office.
With no thought in his mind, he knocked on the door and entered.
"Hello Erwin, I had to deliver these reports to you. Go through them. Some of them need to be signed immediately."
"Thank you Levi. I shall do so." Erwin replied.
"Hmm well.." Levi trailed off.
"What is it levi?" Erwin questioned.
"Congratulations on you and y/n. You finally have someone who'll take care of you old man" he snickered.
Erwin gave a hearty laugh and replied "Yes, she does care about me deeply. But she wasn't the first...". Erwin trailed off and lowered his head slightly "I'm sure you know this, don't you?"
Levi was silent. He couldn't understand why Erwin was saying all this now. "Does it really matter though?" Levi snapped.
Erwin looked up and locked eyes with Levi. "of course it does Levi.."
Levi looked away to avoid direct eye contact with Erwin and replied "Who else was there..ahh yes first there was Marie and then when you couldn't have her, you secretly started sleeping around with your roommate because it made you happy for the moment. But you were too scared and ended it and now y/n...".
Levi came closer to the desk that stood between them and looked at Erwin questioning eyes "Who is it that you truly want Erwin?"
Erwin got up and looked at levi. "Levi please listen to me" And levi did so.
"I admit I had feelings for Marie but they weren't strong enough to make me want to give up everything and be with her...as for the latter, I'm sorry Levi but if the word had spread that the commander of the survey corps has an intimate relationship with his male comrade, don't you know what would have happened?"
Levi sighed and looked away. He understood the situation. For Erwin, nothing is as important as being the commander because only then can he carry out his dream of finding the truth about titans.
"And y/n...it happened suddenly. It was completely out of the blue. But if I'm causing you pain, I won't let this go further. I can assure you that."
"Why? you fuck her and leave her so that she becomes heartbroken? Of course I don't want you to do that asshole"
"What about you? Will you be okay?"
"I've gone this long without you. Whereas y/n..she needs you." He said and turned around to leave.
Erwin wasn't fully convinced with Levi's response and pouted his lips and closed his eyes in frustration.
"I'm aware she's not the only one who needs me." Erwin replied.
"Maybe ...but she is the one who you're choosing to be with. "
"Levi, what you need to underst-"
" Shut it. I don't want to hear any more. I'm taking my leave". And like that Levi left his office.
After sitting in silence for a while, Erwin took out his journal and started writing.
One more day when I couldn't confront my own feelings. One more day of the distance increasing between us. I don't know what I can do to make things right. And what exactly is the right answer? Abandon y/n, abandon my dream to be with him? How could I possibly do that? When I look in y/n's eyes, I know she needs me, longs for me. Has longed for me for years but maybe even she never realised it till last night. I'll have a talk with y/n tonight to have some clarity.
