Chapter 34

Cory's POV

It's been 2 weeks since our getaway to Italy. The group and I have been trying to get a lot of assignments done for school. As of right now, we're all waaay ahead of everyone in all of our classes. Because of this, the school lets us skip, which is a very good thing. Especially considering that my tattoo business has been busier than ever.

I've been getting customers from all over the world. Regular people, singers, song writers, actors and actresses, wrestlers and boxers, even a couple of Papa's allies. Even though it's very busy and we're booked practically everyday, I don't mind. I've always found my job relaxing, and it's especially relaxing since we get to play music.

Speaking of my job, we just finished up with the last few customers. Today wasn't as busy as usual and I've decided to lock up early today. I've also decided to have everyone take off the next two days to give us a break.

I grab my things from my station in the back before locking up the shop. I put my helmet on and hop onto my bike to drive home. I decide to not put on music for once and just enjoy the peacefulness of riding my bike. I drive in silence for a while before finally noticing something.

I'm being followed.

Just to make sure, I do what anyone should do. I make 3 right turns, basically going in a circle. The car follows me with every turn I make. Now I know for sure it's following me. I also know that it's not any of my dad's men because the emblem on the car is different.

I get to a red light and take a deep breath to think clearly. I can't go straight home because I don't want them to follow me there and start shooting up the place. Especially unexpectedly. I decide that the best thing to do is to get on the highway and try to lose them. I can't put an exact destination in my head because wherever I go, I'll put people in danger, so the best thing for me to do is to keep driving.

I follow my plan and get onto a nearby highway. The highway is pretty crowded which is a good thing because it'll make it harder for the car to follow me. While waiting in traffic, I put a tracker on my bike, on my myself, and I'm somehow able to get it on the car. I take out my phone to text my father about my situation.

When I don't get a text back, I make the decision to try and lose them on my own. I act like I'm annoyed with all the traffic and start weaving in between the cars. I do this for a while, or at least until I'm out of sight.

When I know that I am, I let out the breath I was holding. I'm able to get off at a random exit. I mentally congratulate myself in my head. However, my victory is short-lived when someone crosses the street without looking. I beep my horn and skid to a stop. The person crossing looks up at me, but the weird thing is that they don't look startled.

I get a weird feeling in the pit of my stomach, but I don't know why. I soon figure out the reason when I look to my left and see a truck coming my way. My eyes widen and I brace myself knowing that it's too close for me to try to get away. The truck crashes into me and The only thing I feel is pain.

My back hurts.

My leg hurts.

My head hurts.

Everything hurts.

There's an annoying ringing in my ear that won't go away. All I want to do is close my eyes and fall asleep, but I know I can't. I try my best to keep my eyes open, at least long enough to grab my phone that's right next to me. I try my best to send one more text to my dad before discreetly pushing it into the patch of grass I landed next to.

The last thing I see before my eyes close is 3 people standing above me, one of them being the person I almost hit. They're all laughing at something I didn't catch, but most likely it's about me. I don't have the strength to keep my eyes open anymore but I am able to think one more thing before I finally black out.

"Why isn't there anyone else in the town?"

Honestly, this is probably one of the shortest chapters I've ever written, but I wanted to leave you guys on a cliffhanger. Don't worry, you won't have to wait too long for the next chapter to be up. It should be up by either Friday or Saturday.
