Chapter 23. For amber..

Edward's POV

I sat next to amber her hand in mine while Renee went to see bella who had woken up about a half an hour ago, I kept my eyes on the subtle rise and fall of her chest, I just wanted her to open her eyes, we all missed her, we all just wanted to see her smile again, everyday the doctors would come to check on her and even they weren't positive to why she hadn't awaken yet. Thinking about it made my undead heart stutter as Carlisle's words made their way to the forefront of my mind.

*Flashback*

If had been a little longer than 24 hours and everyone was getting restless, none of us had left the waiting room, none of us had hunted our eyes the unnatural charcoal black color. I just wanted my mate, she kept me calm, gave me a reason to keep going, if she died, I wouldn't be able to live with myself...I would go straight to the Volturi, nothing and no one would be able to change my mind. 

"May I speak with you all," Carlisle quiered and we all looked at him in confusion, "I will not lose my family, I will not let you lose yourselves in grief and dispare...if amber doesn't wake on her own or if something goes wrong...I want your permission to change her," he stated and raised his hand as we all went to protest. 

"I know you will not want to live without her, I can see it in your eyes, in the way you act and move...I love that girl in there as if she was my own...if there is no other option I choose my family...I choose amber," he continued Esme walking to him and gently taking his hand in hers as a sign that she was with him.

 I gulped gently, this isn't the life I would have chosen for myself, we couldn't be sure how Amber would react to vampirism, she could hate us or worse, She wouldn't be able to have children, see her family, she would be stuck just like the rest of us, 

"Do it," Jasper stated and my eyes widened as I looked at him. "Just as I will not live without Alice I will not live without amber....if there is no other choice...you have my permission," he stated with a nod at Carlisle who nodded back,  

" You have my blessing as well Carlisle, I spent so long seeing her and now she is here, as Jasper said, I will not live without her as I will not live without Jas...if it comes to it you're the only one I trust to help her," Alice said and I felt my stomach turn, I didn't want this for her but they were right... without realizing it we had all agreed not to live without her. 

"Rose babe I love you but think about it, tell me that if she were to die we wouldn't go straight to the Volturi, that we all wouldn't wish to die right then and there, I won't lose you, I won't lose her, and I won't lose our family...if it comes down to it Carlisle you have my permission," Emmett pleaded trying to get rose to see his side while also agreeing with Carlisle. Then suddenly it was just up to Rosalie and I, we looked at each other, '

what do we do Edward, I know this isn't the life we would have chose for either of ourselves and I don't know how she'll react, there are so many variables and things we don't know but are we ready to risk loosing her?' 

Rosalie asked me through her mind and I sighed softly looking back at my family seeing them look at rose and I pleadingly, I closed my eyes softly and pictured amber, seeing her dark hair and eyes, her smile and the warmth of her voice. I nodded slowly opening my eyes to look at Carlisle, 

"this isn't the life I would have chose for myself, but for her I would do anything to keep...keep her here with us and if that means that she has to lose part of herself then I really hope that she can forgive us...you have my permission carlisle," I stated venom filling my eyes as I nodded at Rosalie who nodded back.
