The petrichor odour and an icy sensation dominated the atmosphere. Though, in the blink of an eye, evaporated into thin air.
Blinding light illuminated every particle in the air. All that could be seen was a bright, white glow.
Then all went dark. Like a switch was clicked.
Silence consumed all and then soon turned into a loud echoing ring that bounced around in the empty void of nothingness.
That seemed to have lasted for most of eternity, yet time fused and only a few minutes had passed.
Eyes snapping open, a gasp of air and overall panic engrossing her.
Where am I?
The only question in her head at that very moment. Then came an even more terrifying thought.
Who am I?
These blurry figures were in the back of her mind. But these beings were like unfinished drawings, their faces not yet complete. As well as places, she could remember shops and cinemas and more, but not where they were and who she went with.
The specifics weren't there. As if you put an old puzzel together and some of the pieces had been lost along time.
Terror overwhelmed her, and all of her emotions were bombarding her at once. Though, she seemed to be constricted and couldn't move. All she wanted to do was curl into a ball in the corner. As much as she tried to inch a tiny bit, she just couldn't.
She lost all control of her limbs, and the more she attempted to move, the more energy she used. Eventually, she didn't even have the vitality to endevour along that route of exhaustion.
So she lay there. Unmoving. Unanswered questions appearing in her mind. Hours must have gone on. The sky was slowly getting darker and darker before she could finally move.
At first, her pinky started to twitch, and then she could wiggle all her fingers and toes. One by one, she could access more and more limbs.
She did her best to get up, stumbling along the way. After at least 20 minutes of hard work, she was on her feet, proped up against the wall.
This was the first time she properly took in her surroundings. The tall ivy covered stone walls. The long corridors split off on different paths.
The place reminded her of a maze.
Why would she be in a maze with no memory of who she was or why she was there?
So many questions.
She was shook, quite literally, out of her thoughts by the loud vibrations bouncing along the walls. A sort of grinding stone sound.
In the distance, she could also hear clicks. Scattered and far away, but there.
She was terrified to say the least. So her fight or flight kicked and she went for the latter.
Her legs started to move before she could even comprehend what was happening.
Down corridor after corridor. Turns out she was in fact right. She was in a maze.
Oh no.
How would she escape?
She ran. And ran. And ran.
When she was eventually wheezing for breath, the brunette haulted, englufing the oxygen around her. Weary of her surroundings and what those loud noises were.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, they stopped.
How?
Her question was answered when she looked back at where she came from and the path was blocked off. She took a second glance and even went up to touch the wall, to make sure that wasn't just her imagination.
