Chapter Text

Harry sat on the corner of his old room. The walls were white, and bare. The florescent light from above flickered at a unrhythmic rate. There was no window, just four plain walls and the wooden floor. Harrys twin bed was pushed up into the corner and was barely enough space for his tail to fit on comfortably. The used mattress was thin and worn down in the middle from years of use. Harry knew that putting his pillow in the divet and using his tail as a replacement pillow was the most comfortable way to sleep here.

Harry was hugging his tail staring ahead at the wall with misty eyes. He was back at the shelter. Deep down, Harry knew that he would end up here again. But he had been so hopeful that he wouldn't be found. He ran away and got a few extra days of freedom. But they had been cold, and hungry and just as alone.

Harry missed his heated blanket. He missed the queen sized bed at Louis' house. He missed Niall. Hell, he even missed Louis. Harry coughed weakly, his sounds bouncing off the walls and all around him, almost echoing in the empty room.

Usually the rooms were fuller than this, with two bunk beds and four hybrids in each room. But hybrids were sorted by type. And Harry had never met another hybrid like himself.

"Med call." Harry sat up as he heard the sliding window on his door open. Harry got up and slithered over, knowing this and meal deliveries would be his only source of interaction. He was kind of grateful, in a weird way, to be sick. Since he had to get pills twice a day, which required two more interactions.

"Take this with water." The man said, placing a little cup with a pill in it on the window. Harry took the pill and drank the water.

"Can I go outsssssssside-"

"Open your mouth." The man interrupted, Harry frowned and opened his mouth. He cried out in surprise as a gloved hand shoved into his mouth, pushing his tongue around, checking for the pill. The man rose an eyebrow and pushed his fingers against Harry's fangs.

"You got venom in these?" He asked, moving his hand away. Harry frowned and wiped his mouth, his eyebrows knit together.

"Uh, no. I'm a ball python hybrid" Harry muttered. The mans expression showed that he didn't seem to understand. Harry didn't bother explaining.

"Can I got outssssssside? The kittens and puppies go outside." Harry said.

"You're on sick call. You can go outside when you're better." The man said, taking his glove off. Harry frowned and went to ask another question, only to get the window closed in his face.

Harry stared at the door for a few moments before he relented and slithered back to his bed. He sighed softly. In the back of the shelter there was a small fenced in yard. It was completely enclosed. The workers at the shelter learned the hard way that hybrids were more than willing to escape. Harry had been outside only a couple times. After asking and asking and asking, and repeatedly being told no Harry just stopped.

Harry was almost asleep when he heard the sound of his door opening. He frowned and sat up. The man from before was there, closing the door behind him. The man that had brought him medicine.

"Hi..." Harry trailed off. "Did I need more medicccccccine?" He asked, eyeing the man suspiciously. He didn't look like he was here for any sort of medical reason. He was dressed in a work outfit, and he had a strange looking device in his hand.

"Where is your dick?" The man asked crudely, walking up to the bed and grabbing his tail. He pulled on it and looked at Harrys underside.

"Hey!" Harry pulled his tail away, balling it up behind him in a huff.
