The other side of bonding days

"It's here!" Was the only warning we got before something exploded onto our stomachs. I gasped out, nearly punching Attroxia in the head. Cordgi coughed trying to breath beside me.

"THE BONDING DAYS START!" The small smoke dragon yelled at us trying to pull us from the bed.

"Trox, it's still dark out!" Cordgi groaned.

"Cordg, it's winter, it will be dark for a bit." I chuckled feeling the excitement rush into my veins. I had never experienced this side of the ceremonies before. I wasn't going to be a part of the event, now I got to celebrate it.

"Yeah, they have been cooking for days!" Attroxia moved off of us to go on and on about all the food that was being prepared for the event. I chuckled smacking him with my pillow.

"Come on Cordgi, I don't think he is going to let us sleep any longer." I pulled my arm from under the soft brown head.

"You deal with him, I'm not getting up yet!" Cordgi grumbled. I laughed.

"Well, come find me when you get cold." I told him.

"You know you're an ice knight? Sleeping with you is always cold." He told me. I paused looking back at him curled in our bed.

"Really, why didn't you say anything sooner. I can sleep..." His pillow hit me in the face. He didn't even open his eyes.

"That's why, you would instantly try to fix it. I have blankets and my cape!" He snarled. Groggily he sat up. "Now look, I'm awake!" He grouched. I laughed.

"Yeah but I get the bathroom first." I darted into the room before he could rise from the bed. Attroxia was laughing. When I came out from showering, Baram and Tempest were shuffling through my wardrobe. They weren't talking out loud but I was sure they were judging what they saw there.

Bran was sitting on Cordgi's bed. He had a pamphlet in his hand. Attroxia and Tanwen were pointing to various things in it. Neffy was rubbing Cordgi's back as my boyfriend sat with his head hanging over a cup of coffee. Baram saw me first.

"You have absolutely no taste in fashion." He declared.

"Yeah, we knew that." Attroxia laughed.

"But he needs something to meet the king in!" Tempest wailed.

"We will be fitted for our knights uniform. That is what we wear to be presented to the king." I told her. She frowned slamming the door closed.

"Fine, but you need to go shopping!" Tempest ordered. I got dressed in the clothes she thrust at me while Cordgi went to shower. I was wearing my best pair of jeans, a blue sweater and my winter coat.

"Blue looks good on you." Cordgi said as he came up to me.

"Good thing you wear a lot of blue." I teased kissing his sleepy forehead. He mewed a little as he leaned into my chest.

"First off breakfast!" Attroxia yelled. I smirked. I hefted the staff. Shea had created a leather harness that went over my shoulders and held the staff to my back when I didn't want to carry it. I slipped it in feeling it's weight comforting on my back. As soon as we got outside my eyes went to the wry.

"What would you be doing now, down there?" Cordgi asked.

"Getting the hatchling and fledgling sorted out and ready." I pulled him into my side. Attroxia and Bran led us out to a long row of stalls. Each one smoking and letting out the most mouth watering scents. I frowned. I didn't think to ask Quinn for money.

"Hey, this is my date, I'll pay." Cordgi gestured to the stalls. "Have whatever you want." He told me. I hesitated. "Really, I..."

"Zyn, there you are. I thought you got up early on days like this." Grouchy morning Po was not nice. He thrust a leather folded wallet into my hands. "From Quinn." Was all he said before he all but plowed through me. I chuckled. She really did think of everything.
