"I challenge you for a duel" Edmund barks and a
mischievous grin appears on his lips. I almost invisible shake my head as I try not to smile. The handsome face of my suitor is marked with a question. "I accept?" He sounds not sure of his case. Peter stands from his Throne, his red cloak flutters behind him as he does so. "For you are trying to win the heart of my sister, you have to convince us of your truth; are you more than only interested in her beauty alone?"
I see the face of the man twist and he is thinking hard. His brain has to hurt. But eventually he opens his mouth to speak. At the first few seconds it hangs open, catching flies while he tried to come up with an answer Peter and I will like. "I heard many stories of your beauty queen Susan"
Ah he is directly talking to me, stupid. Peter asked him the question. But we will see.
"And I wanted to see for myself. And what I see, I am willing to fight for it. Because you are more than beauty alone" I just look the Calormen man in the eyes. Peter huff's irritated but I stand too and lay a hand on his forearm. Peter smiles at me, for he knows what That means; this man will never be my lover in any way. He is just here for my beauty alone. And I know for certain he will let Edmund win because than he looks gentle.
I am the gentle queen and he thinks he has won me over, but he will leave empty handed.
Lucy, Peter and I follow Edmund and the suitor who's name I already forgot to the duel ground. There they stand opposite from each other. "This is just a playful duel" Peter announces. "Do not gravely injure each other. This is just for sports" Edmund and the man nod and they both start to circle around. The man is the first to attack but ed blocks him easily.
For he is the best swords man in whole Narnia.
Ed just blocks his blows again and again and the man grows tired.
I am curious if he drops his manners and goes full berserk or he surrenders.
The man does the first, with a slight high pitched yell he storms at Edmund. Who looks in a seconds at us, winks, ducks and kicks the man in his stomach. He flies to the ground and groans. "Another round?" Edmund jokingly asks. "I surrender, your majesty" Edmund holds out his hand and pulls the man up. He looks me in the eyes but I shake a 'no'.
He bows and turns around, back to his ship.
"Did you hear his yell?" Lucy snickers. "It was so high!"
I laugh too.
"Yes, I did"
