Once all the teams were decided, a few guards got in the dropship and closed the doors. There was a loud humming, and I felt movement. The ship was taking off. A few people sat down, not used to the movement. Some held onto each other, while a few stood just fine. I stood, slightly leaning so my back was against the wall.
After a few minutes, I heard a robotic female voice.
"Approaching King's Canyon."
A map showed up on the screen, showcasing King's Canyon, including the high tier loot area, and dropship path.
The path is very far to the left. Meaning most people won't be landing far right. Probably the safest place to land.
3 guards walk through the ship and hand everyone an earpiece, a watch, and a electronic chip.
One starts to explain the purpose of each item. "The earpiece is designed to fit in your right ear. It is so you can communicate to your team. The watch is to track where the ring is and where your teammates are. The electric chip is your respawn banner. If you 'die' your team can bring you back. If time runs out to grab it, it's game over for you."
Game over. You mean death, I think to myself.
Then there's a sudden gust of wind. The hatch to the dropship is starting to open. A countdown starts from 15 seconds. Once it hits zero, people can jump.
The screen in the corner blares again. "Here are your champions."
Everyone turns to get a glimpse at the screen. Rose, my teammate lets out a small gasp in my ear.
Wraith, Loba, and Revenant.
Great. How are we supposed to beat a portal manipulator, a sneak thief, and a killing machine? One way to find out.
My wrist vibrates. I look at the watch I just put on. Apparently it shows your teammates pings too. Joey, my teammate, pinged The Cage as our drop spot. I confirm it.
My team walks up to the hatch. Min is already in the sling on my back. I don't remember strapping him in, until Rose smiles shyly at me. I nod back. Joey hands me and Rose a tether. We hook it to our belts. It's so we don't get separated from each other when jumping. Joey takes the middle, meaning he's our jumpmaster.
When he leaps out of the dropship, I'm not as prepared as I thought. He angles himself so he's facing forward. It takes me a few seconds to adjust. The air is cold, and whips against my exposed eyes, and my hat has a hard time staying put. We're approaching the ground rapidly. I break the tether holding me to them, and pull out my parachute. I hit the ground with a hard thud, that sends a jolt to my knees.
Me and my team has landed at The Cage. And so did someone else.
