Valentine had woken up this morning with a killer headache and some nausea suddenly she felt her stomach content coming back up she rushed to the toilet and emptied it all into the toilet. After she was done throwing up Valentine stood up washed her face and recalled yesterday’s event
“oh no Mum not this time you just have to tell me what happened to Joel’s favorite joggers before you escape.” Valentine said within laugh. she had spent most of her day with her mum doing all sorts of crazy things and now it was late in the evening and now here they were talking about random things like Valentine’s childhood years to when her twin siblings were born to how their mum used to hide their favorite objects whenever her and her siblings were getting addicted. Today had been an amazing day she hasn’t had this much fun with her mum for a long time. As they continued to talk she noticed that her mum kept holding her head in her arms as if keeping it from falling. “mum what’s wrong you keep holding your head?” Valentine finally asked but her mum shrugged and said it was just a headache and that she would be okay by the next day when she woke up. Her mum excused herself to go to bed but as she was climbing the stairs she felt dizzy and fainted Valentine called out for help and rushed to her mum’s side. Less than an hour later they were at hospital waiting for the doctor finish with the test they were running on her. After an hour or so the doctor came out with the news “Mrs Anderson’s family” the doctor requested Valentine immediately stood rushing to the doctor with one of her brothers, Joel and dad right behind her. “doctor here we are.” Joel responded the doctor looked over us if contemplating on how to tell them he finally let it out. “Am sorry but then Mrs Anderson has a very deadly kidney infection that has spread through her left kidney and if nothing is done within the next year I don’t even know what to expect.” And that was it Valentine saw her world crushing she was broken and since she didn’t want to crumble in front of a complete stranger, her dad and younger brother although doctor Rivers wasn’t a strange but anyways she pulled out the only way she knew how to fight her emotions without losing and that was the ice cold façade. From a young age she learnt never to let her feelings win over her and never to show them to the world and they only way she could do that was with the façade that’s how she got the name ice princess.
Valentine left the hospital immediately without a word and went to drown herself with alcohol since that was the only way to numb the pain she was feeling right at that moment.
As yesterday’s moments were all coming back to her hitting her at full force she received a call from her secretary reminding her of her meeting with Mr. Emerson on the contract they had. Although she didn’t feel like going to work she just had to and close up this deal once and for all and then she would travel to Italy or Spain or anywhere just to get her mind out of its current state
Valentine got to work one hour before the meeting would commence since she needed the time to gain her composure as to deal with this meeting. Though this meeting was actually for her father but since she was to claim the company in a few months she had to start introducing herself to some of the partners and shareholder so in her father’s defense he claimed this was the best way to achieve it so here she was looking through the window looking at nothing in particular just to set her mind straight.
Few minutes before the meeting she received a call from Joel asking how she was feeling and all that. They treated her as the child of the family while in reality she was the eldest but no one in her family saw that so she learnt to live with it. Immediately after she ended the call she heard a knock on the door she told the person to come in but she was still looking at the city. The person tried to get her attention but she didn’t turn around she still had tears in her eyes even though she wouldn’t allow them to fall. She took some breath brought out the façade and turned to Mr. Emerson she presumed since it was time for the meeting according to her wrist watch but what she saw had her speechless and surprised. Once she gained her composure and was about to speak he had already gained enough composure to ask “What the hell Rose?”
I didn’t expect to see him anytime soon I didn’t want to see him anytime soon either I was supposed to meet Mr. Emerson and not Jacob Grant her ex-boss.
“What are you doing here?” Valentine asked him back. “I am supposed to Miss Anderson the CEO of this company and what are you doing her or maybe you’re her new personal assistant. Am glad you took my words seriously and fled New York...” As he was talking a man entered the office without knocking and said “Miss Anderson one of the partners want to meet you so ne was asking when you could meet him?” Valentine thought of it for some few seconds and responded “let it be on this week Friday at exactly five or he can forget about ever having the meeting.” And that left Jacob open mouthed with no words coming out because it had hit him Rose was Miss Anderson…………. BUT HOW??????
