Jacob was relieved to be back at his parents’ house where he would relax and just be his normal self with his family around and an annoying little sister. But once he entered the house he heard voices coming from the kitchen and it sounded like it was his dad's voice. He went close so he could greet his dad but what he heard stopped him from entering the kitchen.
“Let’s see how they work together in this deal, if they mess it up then will have to reconsider merging the company or maybe well juts find some other way……… Nope but the marriage is out of the deal I know he won’t accept this and neither will she…. I don’t know about it but we will find a way trust me good bye I have to go now talk to you soon.”
Jacob entered the kitchen after his dad was done with the call. He needed answers and he needed them right now.
“Dad what’s going on and who was that on the phone?”
“My boy come here and give your big man a hug “Blake, Jacobs father said.
“Dad I asked a question what’s going on and why are you here weren’t you supposed to be in a meeting right now?”
“As for the call its nothing, for my meeting I was stood up now give me a hug.”
“Not before I get an explanation for that call because according to what I heard it wasn’t just nothing.” Jacob said with a sign of frustration and anger why was this day full of mysteries
“As I said the call was nothing can’t you just let it go and anyways I haven’t seen you for the past six months and instead of coming to hug me here you are questioning me. Am sure I didn't raise you like that I raised you up better.” Blake said trying to get away from his son’s interrogation.
“If you say so then I’ll leave it.” Jacob said while going to give his dad a hug. Jacob would leave the story for now but he would still find out what was going on.
Meanwhile Valentine was in her office still thinking about her mom’s predicament when she got a call informing her that her mum had requested her resend immediately.
Less than an hour later Valentine was in her mom’s room and right next her. She could see that her mom was clearly better than she was yesterday and she was glad.
“Hey mummy how are you?”
“Am okay my love but something is bothering me”
“What mummy? Tell me and I will solve it for you. I don’t want you stressing.”
“I heard ice princess is back and we all know that no one likes her and when I mean all understand me nobody likes her.”
Valentine chuckled nervously because she didn’t have a response to that. But she knew that her mum was right nobody liked ice princess she was too cold for anyone’s liking
“I know my love you want to be strong for everyone else around you. I know you’ll scared of losing me but my darling wave lost you and nobody knew how to get you back but when you come back you at least come back with little bit of life in you and everyone was happy because we were finally gaining you back so please baby don’t let us lose you again because we all won’t be able to gain you back even if you travelled the whole world and come back.”
“I just control it mum vie tried but vie failed and trust me it hurts not being able not to come into your hands and cry because that is something I’d love more than anything but it’s just how I am and am sure nothing can change that.”
“Baby you know you can always come into my arms and vie prayed continuously for you to do it one day but you never did. But know that’s how you think you are but no baby your aunt like that if you allowed your guard down for a minute and not be afraid of letting people close trust me you be someone different.”
“It’s not that simple mum” Valentine said with a cracked voice she was at the verge of crying she needed to bring out ice princess before anyone would see her cry. she took a deep breath swallowed her tears and so was the princess
“See what I mean they you go again pulling out your façade just because you don’t want me to see you crying well in case you didn’t know it hurts to know that you don’t trust me enough with your emotions. You can lock everyone out but I never expected you to lock me out as well and it hurt more than you think and now that you’ll back I thought we would work out on it but then this disease come along. I can see now that am failure and that I will never be good enough a mother to you. And I don’t even know where I went wrong and I will never find out I guess.” Amelia, Valentines mum said with tears lined in her eyes while others had already fallen.
“Mum vie never meant to hurt you. You have been the best mother anyone would have asked for.” Valentine said while wiping her mother’s tears.
“Then prove it. No more ice princess no more hiding your emotions from no more all this distance.”
“I’ll try mum.”
“Don’t try do it. Promise you’ll do it even if I die I don’t want you to ever go back to what we've been all been enduring with the ice princess.”
“Mum your aren't dying anytime soon.”
“Promise me baby” Amelia said with tear in her eyes once again.
“I promise mum. Now you need to take some rest.” Valentine said just to dismiss the story because deep down she couldn’t allow anyone see her at her weakest ever again. That was the promise she had made to herself and her guardian angel and she wasn’t planning on breaking it any time soon.
“Stay with me. I want to sleep with you in my arms just like old times.”
“Mum I have work to do and anyways am no longer a child.” Valentine said while standing up to leave.
“Please baby.”, Amelia pleaded.
“Fine but just for an hour.” Valentine said while going back to her mother’s bed and snuggling right next to her. And for once in a long time she felt something she hasn’t felt in a long time comfort. She fell right asleep and had the best sleep she’s had in a very long time.
