Huffing and puffing Zeb leaned on Ezra's head. Ezra, not being stong enough to through Zeb's arm off, stood there glaring up at the purplish- gray, hand covering his view.
"A... Ah... Ahsoka? Is that really you?" The old man, who opended the door, asked in a quiet, unsure tone. His face was one of suspition and suprise. His wrinkles around his eyes and mouth told the story of how old he was.
"Yes Owen, it is. It's been a while hasn't it?" Ahsoka said sadly, eyeing the elder man.
"Too long," he said, shaking his head down, "Much too long".
"Beg your parden Owen, but can we come inside, it's been a very long day," Senetor Organa said.
"Oh! Of course. Come in. Come in. Make yourself comfortable". Owen led them through a few twists and turns, directing them towards the living room that connected to the kitchen. Ezra, seeing the food laid out on the table, made his way to it, hand outreached.
"Ezra!" Hera gave him one of her infamous scowls, causing Ezra's out streached hand to come up to his mouth to cover his "yawn".
"No, it's okay. I was once a growing boy too," Owen said with a smile of encougement in Ezra's direction. Ezra tentatively reached out and snatched the fruit before Hera could object.
"Please stay for dinner. Luke will be here tomorrow, he had to go into town and get me a few things" Owen said, eyeing Ahsoka. Ahsoka gave a slight nod in return. She wasn't quite ready to see Luke yet, even after all these years. Ahsoka knew Owen knew this about her, but didn't fully understand it. He didn't know Anakin like she did. She didn't think anyone knew him as well as her, not even Obi- Wan at times.
"Beru, can u come in here please, we have guests " Owen called out. Beru walked in, drying her hands on her apron she had around her waist. She froze, staring at Ahsoka, in shock.
Her grey hair was in a messy bun on top of her aged head, and her red shirt was stained orange. "Ahsoka," she breathed, breathless. Her eyes watering.
"Hi Beru," Ahsoka said with a tight lip smile that didn't reach her eyes. A single tear fell down Beru's cheeck. She wiped it away hastily. Looking around the rest of the room, she noticed she had other company as well.
"Oh, please, come into the kitchen, I'll fix u up a proper meal, all of you," Beru said to the Rebels.Everyone made to move towards the kitchen except for the Senetor.
"Bail, please. Come eat" Beru said to the former Senetor.
"I will. Don't fret Beru, I just need to talk to Owen for a while. And, Ahsoka, if you could join me?" Bail Organa said.
"Of course" Ahsoka said with a bow of her head.
"Thank you". He turned back to Owen who led us down the hall to a room. A boy's Ahsoka thought by the look of it. She was the last to enter, afraid of what she would find. But the room was like any other, thankfuly. A bed neatly made and books staked against a small self. A small chair was faced against a brown desk connected to the wall.
"You can take the chair Ahsoka. Organa and I will sit on the bed" Owen said.
"Thank you," Ahsoka said, " so what was it you wanted to talk about Organa?"
"It's about Leia and my family," he said, watching their reactions carfuly, with concern, "I fear that Vader knows we are helping the Rebels and that he might come after us. Of course, I can't be sure. And for Leia's safety, I wanted to know if you could stay with her to keep her safe. As say, a personal body guard, " Organa says, looking at Ahsoka, pleadingly. "Your the only one I trust enough and who knows who she truly is and what that could possibly mean for her. Those reasons make you the most qualified out of anybody and therefore the only one who could possibly take on the full requirement of this request. I'm truly sorry to put you on the spot like this Ahsoka, but I have no other choice," He says. "Besides, who better to hold their own against Vader than the one he apprenticed? You're the only person I know who has enough power to hold your own against him and possibly, if need be, defeat him."
Ahsoka, to say the least, was stunned. She had to take a few moments to recover her thoughts. Owen sat there quietly, observing the situation and her reaction. She didn't know yet why Organa had asked him to come if this was all he was asking of her.
"That is a lot to ask, Organa- even for you," Ahsoka says.
"I know, but I wouldn't be asking if I didn't have any other choice, you are my best and only hope I- we, have Ahsoka," Organa says.
When she didn't answer right away, he said, "Just consider it Ahsoka. Please. I'll pay you too, for the danger you would be putting yourself in."
"I'll give it some thought, Organa, but that is all I can promise you right now," Ahsoka said with a slight frown. Her forehead creased with the lines one had when deep in thought. The request surprised her given the current circumstances.
With a sigh, Organa replied, "That's all I ask, Ahsoka." As he got up and walked to the door. He closed it softly behind him, not turning to face them as he did.
After a moment of silence, Owen asked, "So, are you going to take it?" Ahsoka sighed and looked down at the floor before looking up.
"I just don't know, so much has happend in the last few days, and I'm not sure I want to put myself at the mercy of the Empire again. Not a second time, I just don't think I'll be able to do it all over again". Ahsoka put her hands over her eyes and forehead. Hiding her face from Owen. She didn't want him to see the pain and tiredness that was clearly written all over her face.
"What happend last time?" It took a moment before Ahsoka could respond. She looked at Owen as if she were a thousand years old, not the young women that she was, or should be at her age.
"He tortured me, Owen, and I don't think I'll be able to go though that again. Not again."
