I woke up early the next morning feeling fresh and ready for the day. I knew the main reason was because of my date with James. I turned off my alarm and started to get ready for work. I chose a red business attire suit with a tight skirt that ended a little above the knee. I checked myself in the mirror and admired myself. Megan was right, I did look attractive. I had never looked that closely at my figure until James.
I walked down the stairs and entered the kitchen where both of my parents were standing at the counter.
"Where are you going dressed like that, missy?" my mom stared.
My dad looked at me and winked because he knew the reason I was dressed so fancy.
"Mom, I'm just trying on all the outfits you purchased for me," I smiled.
My dad put his hand on my mom's shoulder and tried to calm her down. "Sam's probably trying to impress her coworkers since it's a new job for her."
I don't think my mom bought it, but she nodded and shrugged. I couldn't help but smile. I gave her a big hug and a kiss before I grabbed my breakfast and headed to the door. I could hear my dad shuffling behind me towards the car.
"You look beautiful, dear. I hope you remember what I said to you yesterday," he added.
"Thank you, Dad. I will," I promised.
He dropped me at the train station. When I reached Penn Station, I walked towards my office building and felt many eyes from passersby fall on me. I had never noticed before that guys were checking me out when I walked past them. When I stepped off the elevator at my floor, Melanie gasped and clapped her hands in excitement.
"Does this mean you finally accepted his offer?" she asked.
"I just want to give a good impression," I smiled. I hoped she couldn't see how nervous I was.
"Give me all the details! When and where are you meeting him?" she inquired.
"We are meeting at Starbucks around lunch time," I whispered. I didn't want anyone else to overhear our plans.
I was giddy by the time I took my seat at my desk to begin my morning assignments. As the hours passed by, I started to get even more nervous. Over the sounds of me typing on my keyboard, I heard my phone buzz in my purse. It was James.
Good Morning, Miss Samantha, I can't wait to see you, but could we meet outside Starbucks, please.
Good morning, Mr. James. Sure.
A few minutes before it was time to meet up with him, I excused myself to the ladies room where there was a full length mirror on the wall. I looked into the mirror and straightened my hair a little, checked my mascara for any runs, and adjusted my outfit according to my figure. I was ready for my date. I grabbed my purse and headed for the elevators. I walked through our collision point and out the door. As I approached Starbucks, I could see James standing by the door. He was wearing a blue shirt with a matching tie which made him look even more beautiful, I couldn't keep my eyes off him.
"Miss Samantha, if looks could kill, you would be in jail," he swooned.
I felt my cheeks instantly blush and burn from excitement. My stomach did a flip.
"Well thank you, sir, and you don't look bad yourself," I grinned.
He held the door to Starbucks open and motioned for me to walk inside first. He directed me to an empty table like a perfect gentleman.
