When I come downstairs, my parents were sitting at the kitchen table.
"How are you honey? James looks like a good man. It was nice to meet him this morning. Is he going to pick you up every day?" my dad asked.
"I'm fine, Dad. He enjoys my company and I enjoy his. He's different, maybe a little possessive, but he doesn't have wrong intentions. He respects me and I believe in him. I don't know, but when I'm with him, I feel really safe," I smiled.
"We know you're a strong girl, and act more than your age sometimes. We trust you," he smiled.
"Thanks Dad and mom. I love you both. I'll let you know if my feelings change for him. Right now we're just taking it slow and going out as friends. He wants to take me to an Indian restaurant on Saturday," I mentioned.
"That's nice! You two have fun. We're proud of you. You're our ideal child. You're a great student and thank you for your respect in us. We like your honest responses, but know this, if you ever need us, we'll be right here for you," my dad said.
"Thanks, I know, and I'll continue being honest in every decision I make. Can we have dinner now? I'm really hungry," I smiled.
"Maybe tomorrow he can join us for dinner, if you don't mind," my mom suggested.
"I'll ask him," I smiled.
The chicken pot pie my mother had made for dinner was amazing. She had made a side dish of baby carrots and bread pudding for dessert, which was more than enough to fill my hungry belly. After helping her rinse the dishes, I wandered upstairs to my room to watch some television, but there wasn't anything that grabbed my attention.
I decided to see what Megan was up to, so I grabbed my phone and dialed her number. She picked up on the second ring and I told her about the incredible day I had. I told her everything in detail, including the rooftop restaurant and the French kiss.
"Samantha! I'm very happy for you. I told you he likes you! Who would take a friend to an expensive fancy restaurant," she laughed.
"He just likes to take me out to fancy places because that's his style," I shrugged.
"You think he's going to take any girl to a rooftop restaurant, think again. He's falling for you!" she gushed.
"You want me to tell him to take me to a fast-food place and not a fancy place next time? Maybe next time I'll suggest that to him and I'll tell you his answer," I laughed.
"We have to go shopping Saturday to get clothes for the new job," she said.
"We have to go early in the day and be home by five because James is taking me out at six," I replied.
"Hmm, maybe he can pick you up from the mall and I can come, too," she offered.
"I'll tell him that you want to come. We're going to have Indian food. It'll be fun and then we're going to a movie if you want to join. Invite Stephen, too. You can invite the whole gang," I suggested.
"You don't mind if we all tag along?" she questioned.
"I told you we're going as friends, not as an official couple yet," I reminded her.
"Go ahead and call him and then call me back," she pushed.
"You'll have a whole day to arrange, tomorrow is Thursday. I'll tell him in the morning. Let him sleep and dream of me tonight," I smiled. "I'm just going to ask him face to face. I don't want to do it over the phone."
