I said "Wait, I have to go back to the orphanage to let someone know where I am."
"Alright." He said and drove there then said "If you aren't back in 2 minutes I'm coming in and dragging you to this car."
"You're crazy."
"No, you're crazy. I just know how to get what I want when I want it." I rolled my eyes went inside and told Mr. Moore where I was going and who with a he instantly agreed and I went back in the car and we drove to the mall. I got there and we went to the costume shop and he picked out a few costumes like police officer and vampire. They didn't work for me because the were too tight and too short, but he still tried to convince me to get them, especially the police officer which was the tightest and shortest of the bunch and I said
"No way Malik. I'm not going to wear something that makes me feel like a hooker. How about you stay here and I go pick one out?"
"Alright, but I still say you look sexy in that police officer outfit."
"Your such a pig."
"And proud of it." I went into the stacks and found something that peeked my interest. A dark angel outfit. It was a sweetheart neckline thin strapped tight topped flowing bottom with gigantic angel wings and a black halo. I went and tried it on. It wasn't too tight, but still hugged me in all the right places. It was by far the best one that I've tried on. I showed it to Malik. His eyes lit up like a christmas tree.
"So, what do you think?"
"I-It's great really... really... really great." His eyes scanning me hungrily. Staying at my legs a bit longer.
"Remember Raven?" I asked him.
"No, who's that?" He said biting his lip.
"Your girlfriend. You have a girlfriend, remember?"
"Oh, yeah." He said snapping out of whatever trance he was in.
"Now, that you're back to normal what do you think?"
"Its amazing."
"Yeah and mine!!" I heard a high squeaky enraged voice scream. Raven. I turned around and she screamed "Take it off now!! Its mine!! You stole that from me!!!"
"I cant steal what was never bought. Anyway, you can"t buy it. I am."
"NO YOUR NOT!!! I won't let you!"
"The question isn't who gonna let me. Its who gonna stop me -Ayn Rand. Ever heard of her."
"How can you even afford that?!"
"I'm gonna buy it for her." Malik chimed in.
"What?!" She screamed - yeah do some more of that and I'll be deaf. She stormed out of the store with a cloud of thunder and rage surrounding her. I went took off the outfit and we went to the cashier and he bought it. It was silent on the car ride back to the orphanage.
Until I finally said "I'm sorry."
"Sorry? For what?"
"Causing problems between you and Raven. You obviously love her. Things would have been much easier had we never met." I say playing with my fingers in my lap.
"Hey, don't, don't say that."
"Why not? We both know its true. Your life would have been much easier had we never met. Just... just admit it. You wish you'd never met me. I can take it."
He pulled over and I said "Why did you pull over?"
"If you think for one second that I wish that I'd never met you, you are on the brink of insanity."
"Then call me insane I think that your life would be a LOT easier if we'd never met." I said looking out the window.
He turned my head making me look at him and said "Maybe I don't want my life to be easier." He said looking me in the eyes and shifting closer. I was sudden hyper aware at how little space there was between us. My heart was hammering in my chest.
"Uhh... maybe we should get going." I said trying to slow my growing heart rate which could only happen if he backed up. He nodded his head still looking at me.
