After my last 2 classes Malik asked me "Do you need a ride home?"

"No, I live a few blocks away from here." I glanced out the window and it was pouring.

"It's raining outside. Let me give you a ride home."

"Okay." We made a run for it and when we got to his car we were soaked. He had a black Jeep.

He got in and said "Are you okay?" I had a goofy smile on my face and I burst out laughing and he just looked at me confused.

"What's so funny?"

"No offense, but you look ridiculous, but in a good way."

"You're crazy, you know that right?"

"Yes, I do and I'm proud of it!" I gave him directions to the orphanage. By time we got there it was about to flood and I said "You want to come in?"

"I-I can't."

"Come on. It's about to flood. At least come in until the rain passes."

He sighed and said "Alright. You win, I'll come inside."

"Great." I said with an ear to ear smile. He smiled then just studied me. I blushed and felt my pulse start racing and I said "Uhh... lets go inside." I said getting out of the car and running into the orphanage and Emily was sitting there.

"Amari!!"

She said and I picked her up and said "Hey Emily! Have you been a good girl today?" I said knowing that she could be a bit of a troublemaker.

"Yes.... but I did glue Stephanie's mug to the table with super glue."

"I wouldn't expect anything less."

"Who's that?" She said pointing over my shoulder. I put her down and said

"This is a friend of mine. His name is Malik and he's gonna stay here until the rain stops. Now, Emily you have to promise me you'll be nice and we can bake cookies."

"Chocolate chip cookies."

"Is there any other type?"

"Then I promise I'll be nice." She said flashing a smile with her dimples showing.

I smiled back and said "Good girl."

I turned to Malik and said "Malik, this is Emily. She's the daughter of the orphanage owners."

He came over to her crouched down to her level and said "Hey, Emily. I'm Malik."

"Are you and Amari dating?"

"EMILY!" I screamed blushing like crazy.

"Hey, you said be nice not don't ask him any questions. So, are you?"

He laughed and said "No, I'm not dating Amari. I have a girlfriend. Her name is Raven."

She scrunched up her nose and said "Like the bird?"

"Yes, like the bird."

"She even has her own claws." I chimed in and he raised an eyebrow at me. "What? You know its true."

He stood up and said "I'm not so sure that I'm comfortable with you talking about my girlfriend like that."

"Luckily I don't care. Don't forget you're in my territory now Malik."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"Nothing. Nothing at at all."

"I don't like Ravens they're mean." Emily said.
