The beginning

Waking up to a strange sound I hear yelling from the kitchen, waking up slowly i peep my head through the doorway as my dad was throwing every single alcoholic bottle onto the tile floor. Slowly closing the door I kneel down crying as I was only 7 years old. "Daphne get in here now"! My dad screams, I open the door very quickly as I ran into the kitchen my mom softly yells to stay back. "There is glass everywhere Frank"! She screams even more louder as she was pushing my father away from her. Looking at my parents I couldn't help but run out the door disappearing into the night.............................

It was 10 years later in 1983 I was currently living in a band house with my Cousin Nora in California, LA. The inside is just full of trash, as party's get thrown here every single day. Sitting in the garage with Nora and two other guys, I walked up to the microphone as I started to hum thinking of a song that would just pop right out of my mind. Nora grabbed her bass as she continue to play something random, until the other two boys that basically show up whenever joins in with the drums and guitar. I looked back at everybody as I noticed the beat sounded like Van Halen. My voice started to rasp but softly sing "Runnin' with the Devil".

Ending the song I looked over laughing, throwing up rock devil horns at them. "Fuck yeah, that was awesome". Walking over to the couch flopping down next to Nora smiling. "Honestly we need to make a band". Nora Suggested. I chuckled then looked at her with a straight face. "Wait you're serious, you think we can just automatically make a band I mean we don't even know those guy's." I pointed at them grinning. Nora put both her hands on my shoulders as she had a joint in her mouth, she hands me her lighter as I started to lit the joint. "Seriously Nora"! Rolling my eyes as I take the joint out of her mouth to take a couple hits. "We could make a girl band, it's not that hard you know I went to college for music". She laughs snatching the joint back. Thinking about what Nora said I quickly ran into the house running towards my room, I grabbed the blue brick phone punching in a number.

"Hello"? A soft voice says. I gulp very loudly trying to sit my self down on my bed. "Is Eleanor there"? I questioned. "This is her, who am I speaking to you"? She asked again being very patient". Hearing all these questions I wasn't sure if I should be bold about it. "It's been a long time since we talked, ever since you moved I miss you a lot El". Saying her nickname I knew it would click right through her". "Daphne"? She got a little bit louder. "Wait, you still have my number"? I chuckled a bit. "Of course I have your number, I never forgot you since you moved states, you know I miss". After talking on the phone for almost an hour we hung up. I never got to ask the question when she would visit.

It was getting closer to dark I changed into comfortable black shorts adding, fishnets with my black platforms as my shirt was a plain crop top, along with my hair was very wavy with my big hoops showing. Walking downstairs I could already hear a party going on with more people joining. Nora peeps her head from the stairway calling my name. "Daphne come sing a song for us"! I laughed as I started to walk down the stairs. "You're serious"? I softly grin then chuckled grabbing the mic from her hand. I walk over to the living room as they had a whole set up with the drums in the back, a guitar stand and Nora holding the bass. "Is this your way of having audition"? I asked her with a grin. She rolled her eyes streaming her pick with the bass strings. "No we're just having fun, plus it could be one way to start a band". She laughed as she starts to play a Mötley Crüe song "Live wire".

Starting to sing the power went out as everyone decide to go more crazy. I looked over at Nora as she ran off in the dark with her bass. "Nora"! I yelled as I ran into a tall man that looked very familiar but I couldn't tell in the dark. "pardon me". He says as he walks out the door I decided to run after him as I could tell it was definitely someone I knew. "David Lee Roth"? I questioned, he turned around smiling walking closer to me. "Yeah that's me". He laughs as he was staring into my eyes as I felt like I was losing my breathe at the moment. "You're the chick that was singing before the power went out, I think you could create an awesome ass band". He slightly looks down as his shades were barely covering his eyes. I scuffed at him as I couldn't believe those words came out of his mouth. "I a-m". As I couldn't finish my sentence when Nora came and grabbed my hand to leave as the police sirens were getting closer.

Running blocks away me and Nora started to laugh as we entered an ally way. "Dude, I seriously just met David Lee Roth". As more excited I was I still couldn't breathe. Nora put her hands on my shoulder as her bass was wrapped on around her. "That's so sick, holy shit what did he say to you"? When Nora asked me that question I laughed a bit. "He heard me sing and he thinks that being in a band would be awesome". Nora eyes got wider. "Daphne this is seriously a sign, we are doing it come on". She grabs my hand as she pulls me out of the alleyway we started to head back towards the house as the police and everyone else was gone.

Walking into the door the place was so trashed as it's not like it's normal for us living in a party house. "Shit, this is probably the biggest party we have ever thrown". Nora says as she walks inside shutting the door as she placed her bass gently on the table. I turned on the light. "Well look at that the power is back on, and for this party to be so big you had David Lee Roth here and I only talked to him for two minutes". I scoffed as I walked over to the couch plopping down. Nora face switched as she sat down next to me. "Oh come on Daph it was a sign our band is going to finally be created". She put her hands out in front of her face as she really wants me to imagine being in a band. My chuckles were soft. "To believe it we are going to Florida to meet with a friend". I jumped up from the couch heading towards upstairs. Nora face switched again as it was more confused this time. "Wait why Florida, did you find our third band member to join"?  I laughed at her question while I started to continue walking upstairs. "Just start packing, we are going on a road trip". I yelled walking into my bedroom Nora heard my door slam as she laughed getting up towards her bedroom.
