It was a PCEP tradition that the night before school the seniors would kick off the school year with a prank, and Jack Hughes was insistent that the legend would live on. So somehow, at 10pm on a Sunday, I was climbing into the passenger seat of Johnny's car to go to school.

"Are we really doing this?" I asked.

"If we don't, I think Jack will have a stroke." He said making me laugh, and he pulled away from the house to school. When we arrived we parked next to Elena's white Jeep Wrangler. She was scrolling through her phone, and Johnny honked his horn at her to get her attention. The brunette jumped, her phone falling into her lap as she turned to see our laughing faces.

"Fuck you Jonathan." She said, leaning her head back onto the seat.

"My name is literally just John." He said in a confused tone.

"That was so heinous you've been upgraded to Jonathan." She said, unbuckling her seatbelt.

"Yeah, Jonathan." I teased, hopping out of the car to hug Elena.

"Okay I'll just shut the fuck up then." Johnny said defeatedly as he turned off the car. As he stepped outside, Trevor's blue Ford F-150 pulled up into the parking spot next to the passenger side door of Johnny's car. Trevor and Johnny greeted each other with the typical bro hug/handshake and started talking, but not before I was able to catch Trevor's eye and offer a small smile, which he reciprocated before turning back to my brother. Our little group in the parking lot was joined by Cole, Alex, Danny, Case and Pat.

"Oh what the fuck?" Pat said, immediately coming up to hug me.

"Pat! It's been three days, but I'm so excited to see you too!" I smiled, wrapping my arms around him. It wasn't long before Case spotted Elena, and came running full force.

"Case! Please! Ow!" She yelped as she caught some sick air, being hugged by Case.

"Aren't you excited to see me too?" He asked her, not letting go.

"So excited, but it's been less than a week. There was no need." Elena commented, making us laugh.

We formed a clump around Johnny's truck catching up and saying hey as more cars filled with our classmates pulled up. The steady flow of conversation was cut off by the ringing of Trevor's phone: Jack. He slid his finger across the screen, accepting the FaceTime. The phone displayed a very irritated Jack, who already appeared to be in the school.

"Where the fuck are you guys?" He said in distress.

"Umm, England." Trevor said deadpanned without missing a beat, causing me and a few of our other friends to tilt our heads in confusion.

"What? You're definitely kidding. Right?"

"Yes, Jack, why the fuck would I go to- whatever. You rang?" Trevor said, shaking his head at Jack's stupidity.

"Come inside. We have a schedule." I had never seen Jack so serious about something that wasn't a hockey game, but his seriousness was interrupted by the sound of a... cluck? I reached forward and grabbed the phone out of Trevor's hand, trying to survey the situation.

"Was that a chicken?" I asked, praying to God the answer was no.

"Yes."

"WHAT THE FUCK?" Alex bellowed from the back of the group, pushing through everyone to stand behind me and get in the frame. "WHOMST'VE THE FUCK PROVIDED YOU WITH CHICKENS?"

"That is unimportant."

"Is whomst've a word?" Boldy asked, clearly lost in thought.

"No. It isn't." Elena chimed in, and the sound of her voice seemed to make Jack smile on the phone.
