"Lace?" Becky knew Seth had brought up the prospect before, but she hadn't really believed it, not even when he had shown her some of Mizake's concept sketches. "Won't that tear easily?"
The corner of Seth's mouth twitched in a smirk. "And you're complaining?"
Becky let her head fall back on the pillow as she laughed. "Depending on the context, maybe. Here at home? Sure. In front of seventy thousand fans? Maybe not."
"Mizake said he knows how to reinforce it." She must have looked disappointed, because Seth chuckled. "But depending on how it looks," he added, "maybe I can get a... casual version."
"Right. One that you can just wear to Black & Brave for assessment days, right?" Becky went to push some of her hair aside and came up short. She was still adjusting to her new hairstyle, but for the most part she loved it. It was different from any other woman's hair in the company, and it complemented all her futuristic-looking gear.
"Maybe not quite that casual," Seth conceded as he pulled the outfit out of the parcel. Now that more and more of his Black & Brave students were getting placements either at WWE or AEW, he was trying to be more professional. "Now are you going to behave while I'm trying these on, or do I need to wait until you're busy?"
Becky rolled her eyes. "I always behave—"
Seth knew how she was going to finish and he beat her to it. "Just not always the way you like. I know." As he lifted the bundle of cloth, Becky was disappointed to see that it was wrapped so well it didn't give any indication of what was inside. "Okay, okay, I'll be good."
"That's not very reassuring either." He still leaned over the bed to kiss her, though, before heading into the en suite bathroom to try on the gear.
Mizake always made a few prototypes for the wrestlers to try and critique before committing to a final version with all the expensive fabrics and accessories. Seth's gear was in the final stages, but he had been doing his best to keep it a secret from Becky. "Did you bring back the all-white gear?" she asked innocently. It was one of her particular favourites.
"Nah," Seth replied. "That was Mizake's original idea—he pitched it like a wedding dress—and then it was all black, as if I were in mourning for not having a WrestleMania match. And they wanted to leave white for Cody—incoming hero and all that."
"Makes sense." Without Seth in the bed, Becky was getting cold, so she burrowed under the covers. He would still be basking in their rare night of full sleep if the courier hadn't rang the doorbell, but the interruption was worth the delight evident on his face when he realized who the package was from. As RAW women's champion, Becky was virtually guaranteed a spot at WrestleMania, but Seth wasn't in a title hunt at the moment, so his fate had still been up in the air until the Cody Rhodes deal had been finalized—and even then, it hadn't been a sure thing. "So what is it now? Red for anger?" Then she gave her wicked little chuckle. "Are you bringing back the flame trunks?"
Seth's laughter was amplified by the bathroom's acoustics. "You wish."
"Maybe I do." As soon as she saw him walk out of the bathroom, though, any thought of the infamous flame trunks was banished from Becky's mind. "That... is a look." The black all-lace top would have been distracting enough, but his trunks had long cut-out sections filled with matching black lace, and she found herself hoping it would tear easily. "Is this gear one you'll be keeping," she asked in a strangled voice, "or are you auctioning it off?"
Seth was grinning and blushing at the same time. Fashion was still a new concept to him, and even though he was no stranger to flirting, he still seemed to find it strange that he was considered a sex symbol. Troi, their stylist, was helping him experiment with different fashion styles, and Becky definitely enjoyed the results. Sitting on the bed beside her, Seth leaned in for a kiss. "Well, this one in particular is just a prototype, so I have to get it back in one piece," he said reluctantly, "but I can keep the official one if you wan—"
