"Oh no! Who are we going to cheer for?" Becky pointed to the match graphic on the screen. "Are we cheering for Dada or Uncle Fergal?" Roux actually seemed to be taking her time examining the pictures, which made Becky laugh. "You better not tell Dada that you had to think about it." She reached forward and pointed to Seth's picture. "We're cheering for Dada! Even though we still love Uncle Fergal very much."
"Poor little queen. She has too many subject to choose from!" Zelina came up, holding what looked like a Pokemon stuffed toy. Becky didn't know enough about the series to know who it was, but Roux was clearly intrigued because she kept reaching for it. "Is it okay?" Zelina asked Becky. "I know I brought her something last week, but I was shopping for a gift for my niece and this was new and I just couldn't resist."
"That's very sweet of you. I left her bear in the bus, so now she has something to play with." Becky adjusted Roux on her hip so she could see Zelina better. "Look what Auntie Zelina got you! Thank you. She probably won't go to sleep without it all week now." Roux was currently in a stage where her newest toy was automatically her favourite.
"My pleasure. I'm glad she likes it." Zelina waited until Roux had a good grasp on the toy before letting go of it. "I can't believe she's almost a year old!"
"I know. I can't believe it either sometimes. The last two years feel like a blur." She was watching the screen out of the corner of her eye, more interested to see how Roux interacted with her new toy. "It's been a whirlwind for you and Tommy too. How's he doing?"
When Zelina was happy, her smile could light up any room, and she was never happier than when she was talking about her husband. "He's good. He's really liking AEW. It's hard to be apart, obviously, and I miss being on the road with him, but he's in such a better state of mind now, so it's totally worth it."
"That's great to hear. Congrats again on the crown. And a tag team title match tonight too." Becky narrowed her eyes in mock suspicion. "You'd better not have any plans on coming for my title."
Zelina feigned interest in her nails. "Oh, you know me. A girl can never have enough bling, can she?" They both laughed, which made Roux laugh in turn. "Seriously, though, it's great to be on the same show as you again. When I was let go before, you were one of the only people to reach out to me, and that meant a lot."
"Any time." Becky kept glancing over at the screen. She would have loved to see a proper match between Seth and Finn because she knew they had incredible chemistry together, but they were only scheduled for a beatdown spot tonight. I hope they get Finn a good story soon, she thought. After so many releases, she worried about any of her friends who weren't in a solid feud. "I'll have to get some queenly advice from you since Roux here is turning into a little queen herself. She—" She paused when she saw Seth walking up the ramp and then a blur of red. "Holy shit. Who was that?"
Zelina's eyes went wide as the cameras cut away quickly and the feed switched to a replay of Seth's beating on Finn. Down the hall, there was yelling and the clamour of many people running. "That wasn't part of the match?"
Becky shook her head. "No. I was in Creative with him." She felt her hands start to shake and she held Roux out to Zelina. "Would you mind? I just—I have a bad feeling. I want to go check—"
"Of course, of course. Go." Zelina took Roux easily and started talking to her to distract her so she wouldn't realize her mother had left in a rush.
"Becky! Becky, stop!" Michael Hayes, one of the producers, stepped in Becky's path before she could reach Gorilla. "He's fine. Seth's fine. We've got guys out there. Eddie, Tony, Keith, Danilo, Billy—"
