A simple goodbye!

They came back home and it was more awkward than ever. Seeing that Pat was talking nicely with Pran, Ms. Noor was surprised and happy. 'It's nice to see you two like this. It's not good to be angry with your friend for so long!', she expressed her happiness. 'Friends? No, Ms. Noor. We are more than that...', Pat replied. Both Pran and Noor were shocked for a moment. 'Well, I mean we are best friends. Aren't we Pran?', Pat asked. 'Oh! Well. I will make some nice dishes for you. After such a long time, Mr. Pat, you are this happy!'. 'Why won't he?', Pran couldn't help his sarcasm for long. 'What?', asked Noor.

Pran: Nothing, Ms. Noor. Thank you.

Pat: Let's get wasted tonight. I will ask Mico to bring some booze...

Pran: Mico... Seriously?

Pat: Yeah. Is there any problem?

Pran: No. Everything is fine.

At night three of them were sitting in the terrace and drinking. 'What happened between you two? You were fighting like crazy few hours back and now....? Wait... Are you guys a couple? How could my gaydar not recognise your relationship earlier?', asked Mico.

Pran: No. We are just friends. Actually....best friends? What say...Pat?

Pat: Absolutely.

Pat kissed Pran on his cheek.

Pran: What the hell are you doing, Pat? You are drunk already.

Pat: I am...

Mico: Okay, I think I need few more drinks now...

Pran: Do you like him, Mico?

Mico: Pat? (splashing his drink out of his mouth)

Pran: Yeah.

Mico: Ummm....Yeah, I mean who doesn't! He knows it.

Pat: Yeah I know and I love you too buddy!

Mico: He is much more fun when he is drunk. Isn't he?

Pran: True that.

Mico: You like him too... Don't you?

Pat: He does. But I don't. I like Ann.

Mico: What? Who is that now?

Pran: It's the girl he is willing to marry. Enjoy your drinks. I am gonna get some sleep now.

Mico: But you didn't answer...

Pat: If you believe the shit he talks while being drunk...then you have got your answer....Bye!

Pat: Pran, what is wrong with you? Just stay a bit longer. You aren't even drunk yet...

'Leave my hand! I need some rest', Pran rushed to his room. He was upset due to the fact that Pat was talking about that girl even while being drunk. He realised that there wasn't any way left to make Pat change his mind. 'Mico, you will stay, won't you?', Pat blabbered. 'Yeah. How can I not stay.', Mico replied like an obedient friend.

Pat: That's my boy. Now give me one more bottle...

Mico: It's enough already.

Pat: No it's not...

The next morning Pat was about to leave for Singapore. He went to his office to get some of his unfinished work done, before Pran woke up. Pat managed to wake up so early after that amount of drinks he had last night and that too without a hangover, he must have really changed into a different person.

Text messages from Meh:

'What! Aren't you up yet!'

'Pran! What have you done! I am so proud of you!'

'Did he say yes?'

'Where are you?'

Pran got up and checked these texts. He was wondering how she got to know about that. 'What! How do you know all this?', Pran called Meh and asked. 'Keith, who else! Pat texted him! But he didn't say anything else. Now his phone is unreachable. What the hell is going on? Are you guys back together?'. 'Why did he have to tell P'Keith about this? What an embarrassment! See what I am going through after I followed your stupid suggestions!', Pran gave a furious response. 'Did he accept?' Tell me!', asked Meh. 'No! He said 'no'! He wants to marry someone else!', Pran was about to cry.

'What! No! I don't believe that. Who?', asked Meh. 'Some Ann....She is the daughter and the only legal heiress of his dad's friend!', he replied. 'Pran! Love! You must be feeling really bad. I don't understand what's wrong with both of you? Why can't you just accept at once that you belong with eachother!', Meh wanted to express her concern but ended up yelling at Pran. 'Ask Pat! He knows the reason better...', Pran replied in anger. 'But how come Keith doesn't know about this? He literally knows everything about Pat! And sometimes they make me feel like an outsider...', Meh started wondering again. 'Meh! I am coming back today and Pat is leaving for Singapore. I gotta hang up now! Bye!', Pran hung up the phone.

Pat was waiting in his car to pick Pran up for the airport. As he got in the car, Pat asked, 'Do you still think that this is my revenge?'. Pran was too angry to answer anything at all, still he managed to murmur, 'Not at all... I know that you are trying to be a good friend here. I appreciate that'. 'Great, you understood! Let's go!', Pran drove to the airport. Pran's flight was after an hour from Pat.

Somewhere in his heart, there was still hope that Pat will decide not to go. Oh, how he wished for it! But Pat didn't seem to be distracted by anything. He hugged Pran and bid him goodbye like 'just friends'. Pran couldn't speak to him much. He just wished him a safe journey. During his wait for his flight to board, he was broken down and since Pat was now gone, he shed the tear drops which he couldn't while pretending to be 'just friends'. He couldn't stop thinking about Pat during his journey back to Bangkok.
