To save those I love

Luca Heartfilia

Lucy watched as the others looked in horror at their guild hall, and for Lucy it hurt more this time. She had grown up in the guild now, and this was as more her home as any other. Mirajane made their way towards them  her face was grave but full of hope.

"What happened?" Grey asked.

"Phantom Lord attacked, come inside the basement and I'll explain everything." She said leading them into the basement where Lucy was stunned to see Juvia sitting on a bench.

"This here is Juvia, she's a member of the phantom Lord Guild who warned us about the attack." Master Makarov said introducing the blue haired girl. "She had discovered that they were planning on attacking Fairy Tail in order to fill the heartfilia request."

"The heartfilia request?" Lucy asked concern in her shaking voice.

"Yes." Juvia said standing up. "They are planning to kidnap the young boy Luca Heartfilia in order to make the heartfilia family pay a ransom to have him freed, however they wanted to ensure that the closest guild, meaning fairy tail wouldn't be able to help. Which is why he attacked in the middle of the day."

"The middle of the day?!" Natsu yelled angrilly. "Did they want to kill us?!"

"All I know is that they wanted to have you all focused on the injured, while they kidnap Luca." Juvia explained with a sigh. "It's why I came as quickly as I could."

"Thank you Juvia." Mirajane said resting a hand on the girl's shoulders. "She's joining Fairy Tail too."

"It's been my dream to be part of this guild." Juvia said before smiling at Lucy. "And to find some friends too."

It was then Lucy realised that Juvia knew about the past, with a smile on her face Lucy walked forward and embraced her.

"Thank you for protecting the guild." She said happily. "Do you know when they plan to attack the Heartfilias?"

"As soon as possible." Juvia replied.

"Right then." Master Makarov said putting down his beer mug. "Juvia, you'll go with Natsu and his team to the Heartfilia Estate. I have their address here, go and protect them. If we're too late you bring the Heartfilias here and then we'll head to phantom lord." 

"Yes sir." Erza replied before turning to Juvia. "Thank you for helping us, now let's go."

Making their way towards the Heartfilia Estate Lucy felt her stomach tie up in knots, this would be the first time she had been back since she had gone into the past. Lucy's eyes felt misty as she looked at her once familiar home, the gardens were the same, even some of the servants were familiar to her. This place held so many dear memories, but also held horrors from the years of neglect from her father. But that in her mind was water under the bridge, right now this was her home. And she had missed it.

Making her way towards the front door Lucy knocked and was greeted by Mrs Spetto who did a double take when she saw the blonde, however she then nodded and invited them in.

"I'll take you to the Master's study." She said leading them through the halls.

Lucy looked at all the paintings on the walls, many of them were famous pieces of art but others were family portraits. Lucy paused in front of one that was clearly painted as if she was still living there, it showed a happy looking sixteen year old Lucy holding her brother Luca on her lap with their parents flanking them on either side. Tears stung her eyes as she looked at it, Erza noticed this and rested an armoured clad hand onto Lucy's shoulder.

"Everything ok Luce?" She asked softly.

Nodding her head Lucy paused at her fathers office, the last time she was inside it she had told her father that all of fairy tail would hunt him down if he attacked them again. Shaking her head Lucy realised someone that she had forgotten to take with her when she left all those years ago, her little sister Michelle.

"Um excuse me, where's the bathroom." Lucy asked.

"Just down that hallway, second door on the left." Mrs Spetto said pointing the way.

"You go inside and explain, I'll be back in a second." Lucy said making her way through the house towards her old room.

Pausing for a moment Lucy looked and saw the door was slightly opened, peering inside she saw the room was exactly as she left it. It was obviously cleaned regularly, however it was exactly how she remembered it. Right down to the doll sitting on her bed, making her way over Lucy sat down on the bed and looked at the doll. Picking up the doll Lucy smiled feeling tears sting her eyes again, picking up the doll she stroked the soft folds of it's dress and her soft curls.

"Hey Michelle." Lucy said smiling, and it almost looked like the doll was smiling back at her. "Do you remember me maybe?"

Stroking the doll softly Lucy held her close, remembering the soft feeling of the fabric. Slipping the doll into her back pocket Lucy then made her way to her fathers office, he was currently with her mother and Luca as the team explained that they would be taken to the Fairy Tail guild and protected by their members. Both of her parents were overly protective of Luca since their first daughter had gone missing, so they were more than happy to accept help from the guild. After packing they helped the Heartfilias to load everything into their carriage, Layla Heartfilia looked back at her home and sighed sadly.

"Mom?" Luca asked looking up at her.

"I'm fine darling, did you pack everything?" She asked picking him up in her arms.

"Yeah I did, why are they trying to hurt us?" Luca asked hugging his mother.

Suddenly there was a large explosion, the Heartfilia gardens were filled with Phantom Lord members. Instinctively standing in front of her mother and younger brother, Lucy held tightly onto her keys ready to act. Not hesitating Lucy summoned Aquarius who sent a torrent of water crashing through the Phantom Lord members, at the same time she summoned Loke to keep an eye on her mother and brother. Jumping forward Lucy used her whip to beat up some of the members, then however she noticed Gajeel. Gasping Lucy felt the force of his Iron smash through her stomach, both of her gates closed and she fell to the ground winded. 

"Luce!" Natsu yelled trying to reach her.

Gajeel picked her up and then stole Luca from his mother's arms, with Lucy now unconcious and Luca crying for his mother Gajeel vanished along with the Phantom Lord guild. Natsu raced to where Lucy had once been and saw her keys lying on the floor, he knew how much Lucy cherished her spirits and the keys so he picked them up and held them close.

"Let's head back to the guild hall, no way in hell we're letting them get away with hurting Luce."
