“We need to talk.”
“Of course, Mr. Aizawa.” Momo replied, taken aback by his unannounced arrival. He nodded in greeting at the other students, his hands in his pockets as he waited patiently for Momo and Shouto. Momo pushed herself up off of the couch glancing over at Kaminari and Jirou who in turn gave her a small encouraging smile easing her growing nervousness.
Across from her, Shouto stood up as well while leaning towards the twins who were laying on their stomach in front of the television, informing them they were going to speak with Mr. Aizawa. The twins’ eyes curiously looked over at their shoulder at Aizawa. Momo had to hide her giggle behind her hand as Yukiko broke out into a huge grin waving his little hand at their teacher. Aizawa grunted in response, sending back an awkward wave to her son.
Shouto and Momo followed Aizawa through the various tables laid out before the kitchen, choosing the furthest table from all the chatter and prying ears. The two students sat on one side of the table with Aizawa on the other. Momo settled into her seat and placed her hands on her lap under the table, fumbling her fingers.
Aizawa relaxed in his seat, eyes tiredly traveling from the table in front of him to his students. In a gentle yet tired voice, he asked, “How are you two holding up?”
Momo blinked, not expecting a sincere question. “We’re managing. It’s a completely bizarre experience…” She frowned trying to find words to describe how she felt.
“I know this must be very difficult for you both. I understand if you need me or any of the teaching staff to take care of the twins, we won’t hesitate to give out a helping hand.” Aizawa started as Momo and Shouto’s eyes found each other’s. “It’ll give you both time to process everything.”
“No,” Shouto flatly said, eyes mixed between cold as steel and intense as fire “I appreciate that, but I rather have them here with us.”
“Are you certain? It really won’t be any trouble, it’ll also give Eri two new playmates.” Aizawa tried, his voice softening in mention of his adopted daughter. After having a day to think over what just happened, his mind drifted to his two students. Both Todoroki and Yaoyorozu had proven to be the most mature, level-headed, and somewhat rational— Yaoyorozu being the more logical of the two— but no matter how many ways he looked at it or thought of their great traits as an individual it certainly would not have prepared them for parenthood.
What could two teenagers know about taking care of not one, but two children? Having Eri to take care of was an obstacle in itself, and he was thirty years old. He barely had any energy to keep up with twenty rowdy teenagers. How would some of his brightest students deal with such a situation?
Shouto continued his disagreement with his teacher “I think Yaoyorozu and I will have a better peace of mind if Yukiko and Haru stayed with us.” His voice was not faltering nor his hardened stare.
Beside him, the corners of Momo's lips twitched upwards into a ghost of a smile. It was heartwarming to see Shouto so protective. It sparked something inside of her, deep in her core. What was this feeling?
Aizawa’s tired gaze softened, his face however didn’t change, “As you wish.” He then straightened taking a crisp white paper out of his bag and placed it on the table pushing it towards them. Shouto and Momo leaned over the table curiously reading the big, bold letters on the very top of the paper which read: DNA Test Results
“After sending some of the samples of both of your DNA and Yukiko and Haru, it came out a match. No mistake, they are in fact your children.” Aizawa explained carefully, watching their reaction. They both collectively let out a sigh they didn’t realize they were holding. Momo already knew the boys were hers, but having the clear-cut evidence that proved her assumption was nerve-wracking, to say the least. Aizawa was quiet for a bit, giving them a moment to process their thoughts.
