You have got to be shitting me." Naruto Uzumaki said as he pointed his hand at the tuxedos Venelana Gremory was showing him "There's no way I am gonna wear one of those things."
Venelana shook her head and said sternly, like a responsible older sister scolding her younger brother for his lack of manners "Come now Naruto-sama, it's a party. Every high class devils and their heirs will be there to greet you, some of them for the first time so you want to look good in front of them."
"What's wrong with my outfit?" the blond asked as he looked at himself in the full body mirror, grabbing the front of his dark jacket in both hands "Damn I look good." He said, more to himself than to Venelana while smirking in self-satisfaction.
"Rias will be in a dress, do you want to make her look bad?"
"Wait, she's my date?"
"She is." The blond wolf-whistled mentally at that. Venelana then looked at the tuxedos, wrapped carefully and neatly in plastic wraps, for a second before she put it down the chair behind him and said, nodding her head with her arms crossing under her ample bust "Pick what you want to wear. They used to be yours after all."
"So I didn't get any taller?" The blond asked as he looked at himself in the mirror. Truth to be told since the day he became an immortal Naruto had never bothered to pay attention to his height, weight or even his physique. Since his metabolism had always been stronger than that of humans, he could eat as much as he wanted and never had to worry about getting fat. He just needed to workout daily to keep himself in shape, since the ladies loved that and his novel writing days usually involved a lot of women's attention.
"I don't think so." Venelana shook her head and walked toward him to put her hands on his shoulders "But I'm glad that you are still the same Naruto I remember." The blond couldn't help but smile at her.
From what he had learnt from Venelana and Zeoticus, he had been friends with them for a very long time. When he discovered the existence of the supernatural worlds, the Bael, the devil household Venelana originally came from, had been the first devils that he met. Learning that their lifespans were approximately ten thousand years, maybe more, Naruto had decided to stick around them and met Venelana for the first time when she was around seventeen, developing a brother-sister relationship with her even though she had always viewed him with the utmost respect.
Which made him wonder how many years' worth of memories that he had lost. Clearly it wasn't just about three hundred years as he had thought. Moreover, the devils, angels and fallen angels had been around for so long, and yet he didn't remember meeting any of them since the day he started wandering around the world. It was as if someone had manipulated his memories, removing all the necessary details while adding just enough for him to not notice that there were gaps in his memories.
How and why and who? Naruto would LOVE nothing more than to find out. From what he heard, the day he 'died' his brain had been blown to pieces by an old foe that he encountered in the Great War between the Three Biblical Factions with a God Killing weapon specifically designed to kill him. While he did come back alive, he doubted they were the reasons.
"Say, can I ask you a question, Venelana?" Naruto suddenly spoke up with one hand in his pocket and the other messing up his front bangs "It's obvious you and Zeoticus both want Rias to be happy…" Venelana nodded, knowing full well what he wanted to ask her "but why would you continue to marry her to someone she doesn't love?"
"I believe it came from our sense of duties to our Faction." Venelana began calmly, not trying to avoid his gaze "After the Great War, we suffered an excessive loss of population, and 39 out of 72 great devil clans, the Pillars, were destroyed in the conflict. There wasn't much left of us after the War."
