Chapter 27 《Eclipse Lake》

Y/N's Pov 

I wake up, light shining down onto my face.  I wave my hand infront of my face, checking for the purple mist.  It seems to have completely dissipated.  

I sigh in relief and walk to my door.  I reach for the handle before pulling my arm back.  It's best if Eda doesn't know that I'm going out.  

After yesterday's incident, she wouldn't approve of me going to Hexside.  

I run off into the woods surrounding the house, before stopping just a little farther away.  

 I continue running again before clicking Astra back onto the staff. 

 I fly out of the treetops, soaring through the skies, balancing on my staff.  

A familiar whooshing sound chases through the air and I look up.  Willow is chasing after Gus.  Luz isn't with them.

  I lie low, not wanting to be any point of their focus.  

Luz caught a common mold yesterday and has since been sentenced to house arrest as we don't know how badly it could affect her.   

I land at the steps of Hexside, just a little later than Willow and Gus.

Before I can step inside, someone grabs me.  They pull me firmly behind some bushes and holds me still until I finally get a firm look of their face.

Staring back at me, her face framed by her new purple hair, is Amity.

"What do you want?" I hiss.  She looks awkward, swallowing before talking to me, "I know this might be a huge favour to ask, after Eda told me about yesterday, you know.  You probably just want to lie low for a bit.  Luz really needs Titan's Blood and we just found where to get it from and, well, I was really hoping you could come along.  You would be a great asset. "

She smiles awkwardly at me and I pinch the bridge of my nose, before sighing.

"You know what?  I might as well do it."

"You will?!"  Amity clasps her hands together, smiling, "That's great!"

I draw a circle and watch my Hexside uniform poof away, turning back into my white shirt, with waistcoat, and the baggy jeans, along with my tough combat boots.  I'm also wearing my long leather coat, something to warm up in the cold weather.  

Amity stares at me, surprised "Illusion magic?!"

"Yeah." I shrug, "I wasn't planning on wearing my uniform today, but, you know, Hexside rules."

Amity nods and pulls me away from the school.  

We run off in the direction of the old mines, the atmosphere getting colder every step we take.  

"We'll meet Eda and King here." She says, "We've just got to wait."

I nod, standing still.  Eda and King arrive, practically shaking in the cold.  

I sigh.  If it's boring out here, it's going to be boring when we get the Titan Blood.

Before we can set off on our journey, a scout tumbles out of the treeline. 

Instinctively, I point my staff at them but they turn and run away.

I almost drop my staff in disbelief.  Are all coven scouts as timid as this one?  I want a fight, not some stupid chase scene.

It all ends, as Amity scoops the scout clean out of their path.

Their mask falls off and I can only stand there in shock as I watch maroon eyes lock onto mine.
