One Year Later...

I sold Bumblebee, mainly just to throw them off my trail. However, the money didn't hurt either. I live in the forests just off Menagerie. It's far enough that I don't cause any trouble for locals yet close enough that I can purchase food or information. I learned that whoever it was, they're still in Beacon. I also heard that Ruby has a new boyfriend. It wouldn't have worked between us anyway. We only dated for a day, actually not even that.

I'm currently away from home, inside of Beacon. I equipped my new dust gauntlets. Made from the same material that my lasso is made from. It spreads the effects across the armor without causing the user any damage.

I electrocuted two guards on the way inside. I knew nobody would recognize me with my new appearance and mask.

Y/n: *looks at two unconscious guards* Consider this an upgrade.

The guards were put in place after this imposter stole my life from me. I intend to find out who it is. I walked around the dark halls of Beacon. The only illumination was that of the moon. I walked around the academy. Looked in wherever I would try to hide information or even the headmaster's office.

I climbed up the tower with the gauntlets. Once at the top I jumped through the window without it shattering. I'd been practicing my semblance to the point that I can not only go invisible but also permeate through surfaces. I looked through Ozpin's files as he slept.

I found letters and threats written to him in...

Y/n: Blood?

I began to sense a presence behind me. I saw Ozpin awake and holding me in place. I watched as the door opened and a woman in a mask walked inside.

'Phantom of Beacon': Thank you Ozpin, you have been a good boy.

She began to read me one of the letters.

'Phantom of Beacon': Ozpin, I have heard rumors that someone is searching for me. I know you'll bring him to me, lie if you have to.

She then began to wait and see if I would show any kind of weakness.

Y/n: That's funny Weiss, I guess, 'The Phantom' had more of an effect on you than I had previously thought. Yet, you couldn't come up with anything original, could you?

Her eyes widened in surprise. She swung a rapier at my head, a simple sidestep was all it took to dodge the strike.

Weiss: H-how? No one can react that fast!

I quickly threw a punch toward her face knocking her back. She knelt down with tears streaming down her face.

Weiss: He did this to me! I killed my competition! Everyone that stood between me and my love. My Y/n... but, what would you know? You're here to kill me, aren't you?

While trying to impale me. I permeated through her attack. I removed the mask and showed my face to her.

Y/n: I'm a Phantom... no, I'm the Phantom!

I then threw a throwing knife at her leg immobilizing her. She let out a scream as she fell to the ground clutching her leg.

Y/n: I'm sorry, I know you don't deserve this fate... I can help you.

I began to feel an overwhelming guilt wash over me.

Weiss: No, you can't fix me! You break everything you touch!

Weiss yelled out before throwing Ozpin off the building. I dove after him, not realizing I had a rope tied around my right leg but as it went taut I grabbed it with the gauntlet. I caught him, but Weiss fell soon after and I knew there would be no way to catch her. I noticed a rope tied around her as well. It made its way up her body getting caught around her neck. I felt a sudden jerk in my hand. That was when I realized I was still holding the rope not realizing what it had led to... a random student going for a walk saw the grim scene and screamed before I could let her body fall the rest of the way slowly. I climbed Ozpin and myself back inside his office.

Y/n: Weiss...

A depressing thought washed over me. I wiped the tears from my face. Ozpin tried to comfort me, but instead of being thankful, I felt anger.

Y/n: It should have been me... it should have been me!

I shouted out before fleeing the scene. My name was cleared and I got just one more glance at Ruby with her new boyfriend. I had felt so much pain and grief lately, yet this scene gave me some relief. I made my way back to Menagerie where I perform and once inside I began tearing the place apart. Punching holes in walls and tossed objects across the room before finally crashing onto my back and screaming at the ceiling as tears fell from my eyes.

Y/n: It's all my fault, all of it... it's all my fault, I did this it was all me...

I rocked myself back and forth clutching my legs close to my chest. It would be a week before anyone came to check on me, what they found was a charred pile of wood. I was gone without a trace, no one would ever bother me again. Not even Ozpin.
