"Mom? D-dad?" the boy looked up at you with wide eyes, strands of his dark brown hair falling over his forehead as he sat on the floor. He stood up, dusting off his blue jeans as his doe eyes scanned over the both of you almost as if he was confused.
"I thought you were leaving for a business trip" he continued staring up at the both of you, only to receive confused and shocked glances from you and Jungkook.
"I'm sorry, but we're not your parents." you said, an awkward smile on your face as you spoke to the boy, a puzzled look growing on his face.
"Is this another one of Dad's pranks? Cause this one is pretty lame."
Both you and Jungkook shared glances, both left speechless.
"Um… no" Jungkook replied.
The boy cocked his head to the side, raising a brow as he looked over the both of you, his arms crossed.
"I guess you do look younger." he mumbled loud enough for you to hear. "And my dad does have a beard."
"Funny thing though," he continued, releasing his arms and bringing up his wrist, tapping on the screen of what seemed like a watch." you both look just like my parents from their older pictures."
An image appeared in the air on top of the watch, revealing what looked like a family of three. The same boy in front of you stood in front of a man and woman within the picture, all of them smiling brightly while the picture was taken. What caught your eye the most was how familiar the man in the image was; the fluffy hair, the sparkling doe eyes, tanned skin and bunny teeth. Those features were all too similar to someone you knew so well, too well.
Your eyes then shifted to the woman standing to the left, her hair clearly straightened with it falling over her shoulders. Her pink lips were curled up, revealing her white teeth as she smiled at the camera, her one hand resting on her son's shoulder with the other around her husband.
Neither of their smiles looked fake, they were genuine, they were happy.
Your heart thumped in your chest and your body stiffened the more you looked at the floating image, the details sinking into your mind. The man, the woman, the boy, especially how similar the boy looked like his father.
You slightly turned your head to Jungkook, watching as he gawked at the image, his lips parted and eyes wide in shock. The more you glanced between him and the image, the more similar they looked, and the more it hurt your head.
The man in the picture was clearly him, no matter how much you tried to find a flaw you couldn't find one, it was undeniably him. And the woman next to him? It was unmistakably you.
The image disappeared once the boy pressed a button, putting down his wrist and looking up at the both of you. You eyed him in disbelief, trying to process all the information. It was you and Jungkook. Yes your faces looked older and more mature with more creases, but every detail in the picture made it obvious that it was indeed you and him. You could never mistaken the familiar face that you had known for years, the one you called your best friend, the one you knew since your childhood. It couldn't be anyone else.
"Are you two okay?" the boy questioned, confused by both your wide eyes as you stood in silence. You were too caught up trying to process everything to even notice the weird looks people were giving as they passed by, wondering why you were all standing in the middle of the sidewalk.
Jungkook cleared his throat, his dark soft eyes hesitantly met yours and stared into them. He himself was struggling to believe what he just saw.
You gathered your thoughts and released a shaky breath you didn't know you were holding, turning your gaze down to the young boy standing in front of you.
"It's getting really late, I need to go home." he said before he turned his back, ready to walk away.
"Wait!" both you and Jungkook exclaimed, watching as he stopped, turning back to you.
"What's your name? If you don't mind me asking." you began
"Jeon Jaekook."
Jungkook chocked behind you, your own mouth going dry.
Jungkook took a deep breath and spoke "We have something to tell you." he looked into your eyes before turning back to him, a curious look on Jaekook's face
"I know this sounds crazy," he began, "but we might be your parents."
Jaekook's brows furrowed, puzzled by his words.
"We somehow time traveled, otherwise we're from 2019." he continued.
"My mom said to never trust strangers." Jaekook cut in, crossing his arms, clearly not believing any of Jungkook's words.
"Your father, his name is Jeon Jungkook, right? And your mother, Pa- Jeon Y/n." he corrected himself.
Jaekook looked up at Jungkook's tall form, slowly nodding.
"How do you-"
"Because I am Jeon Jungkook, and she's Park Y/n. I'm not lying."
You both stared down at him, praying that he would believe you.
"What's your favourite drink?" he directed the question at Jungkook, yet you couldn't help but answer with him.
"Banana milk." you both said in sync.
"You really are my parents."
