I wore my black bikini and cover it with a white see-through blouse. Raphael said we would meet at 3:30 at the beachline but I came out of my room late. He already started bodyboarding as I arrived there and suddenly stopped as he noticed me approaching. He waved at me and flaunts his masculine body as I stared in awe.
"Elise, come here!" I approach him but seeing me walking slowly, he ran towards me in a flash.
"I'm sorry I'm late."
"Don't mind it, I just came here. Let's go, I will let you use my bodyboard," he held my hand and slowly led me to the shore. I can see his excitement as we are immersed in the water together. The waves are just fine for bodyboarding, and I saw a lot of people doing the same. He assisted me to ride on his bodyboard and it was great as he taught me how to move through the waves. I never imagine being this joyous for I believed this sport is boring.
"You're doing great for a beginner," he said smiling, revealing his white teeth.
"You're right, it's really fun doing this stuff and I would love to do it again on every vacation," I retorted.
"That's good to hear, it's nice to have a companion. I'm tired of being alone, you know," he said as we sat together on the sand after bodyboarding, looking at the people enjoying the water. The weather is cold even though it's a sunny day. I lay flat on the sand as I listened to the sound of the waves, while I noticed him glancing at me.
"Can I ask?" I nodded without even looking at him.
"Why did you plan on having a vacation on valentines day?"
"What kind of question is that?" I berated but in a good manner. He stammered but proceeded.
"I, I'm sorry. I'm just interested. I know you're single..."
"What do you care if I'm single?" I stopped him with a grimaced face.
"I mean..." And with a long pause, he said, "Never mind, I asked you a wrong question," he finished off.
"So, ask me a correct one," I demanded, slightly grinning as I leaned forward to sit. This time, we looked at each other.
"Do you want to grab some drinks, my treat," he suddenly change the topic and got up, offering his hand to me. Hesitated for a moment, I grabbed his hand, and we headed to the bar. I poked fun at him about his manner and he just laugh at me. We ordered beer and started to chat about a weird topic.
"Did you know that this beer was called, " the divine drink" by the people who live on the land between Euphrates and Tigris rivers?" I don't even like history but I was intrigued by his story. It's weird, right, but I listened to him like an enthusiastic student.
"Why is that," I asked him, gulping the last part of beer in my glass. He immediately filled it again and continued to talk.
"It's a very important part of their diet because of its intoxicating effect." He responded.
"Oh, so we'll have to drink beer every day to be healthy," I shrugged off, putting more ice on my glass. "For me, it's like a potion," I added while he looked at me, wondering.
"Like a magic potion?" He chuckled, giving me the desire to smile back, but I stayed serious.
"Well, probably. It made me commit absurd things but sometimes gives me fulfillment in life, even for a short time."
"What do you mean by that?" He simply asked, drinking his glass of beer and listening eagerly to me.
"It made me cheerful in times of loneliness, just like what happened to me in my past relationship."
"When was that?" Curious, he grabs another bottle of beer.
"Past two years."
"Care to tell?"
I grinned, thinking about the heartbreaking moment with my ex. "Nah, forget it. Let's just enjoy our last night together here in Hawaii."
"Well, you're right. We should not dwell on the negative experiences of the past."
"Cheers!" I shouted, lifting my glass as he responded.
We had consumed twelve bottles of beer, and because we hadn't eaten dinner, it made me so drunk that I couldn't even move my head. I rested it flat on the table as he jiggled me to wake me up. For the second time around, I acted like a baby having tantrums. He, on the other hand, was also drunk but he can manage his drunkenness. I cried for nothing as he carried me away from the bar and went directly into my room.
"I need to pee," I demanded as I took off my bikini.
"No, no--no," he instantly stopped me, leading me to the bathroom without closing the door. I resumed my crying while muttering words distinctly. He just stayed at the door waiting for me to calm down but I continued while putting back my bikini. He then carried me to my bed and we both laid down, stayed silent for a moment, and then he suddenly leaned closer to me and wiped my tears.
"You're a crazy lady," he said softly, glancing at me in sadness.
"He cheated on me," I said, whimpering.
"Stop it, he's not worth your love. Move on, it's two years already," I looked at him in agreement, then in a flash, I kissed him on the lips. He didn't back away from me, instead, he responded. It was a seductive kiss from him.
"Thank you," I said as I tried to get up to find my clothes. He seemed to enjoy our kiss as he laid down again.
"I need to change, can you turn around?" He nodded, then I rested back on the bed after changing. He moves closer to me and suddenly hugged me without a second thought.
"I said I like you, and I mean it," he whispered through my ears. I recovered from my inebriation and fits as I heard his word. I miss those phrases. I grinned. Then I responded to his embrace. I felt a little dizzy but it's okay. His embrace was so sweet and I felt satisfied and secure. I didn't respond to his words though. We just laid there and sleep together, soundly.
