I woke early the next morning and instead of having breakfast I had a shower and went straight to my aunts house. I wasn't sure if they'd be up yet but I was fine to wait.
I went inside and was slightly surprised to find everyone at the breakfast table already.
I sat down next to Olivia and gave her a kiss quickly. "Hi." I grinned at her.
"Hi." She smiled back. She looked worried about something.
I narrowed me eyes at her to ask her if everything was ok.
She shook her head slightly. She wanted me to leave it.
"Do you want some food Joe?" Carol asked me already standing to make me something.
"Yes please." I nodded.
After we ate Olivia and I were left alone when Carol and Joanne went to get ready for the day.
"What is it?" I asked as soon as they were both upstairs, "are you ok? Is everyone ok back home?" I thought of her grandpa, had he taken a turn for the worst.
"I'm fine. Everyone's fine back home." She answered quickly and I calmed down slightly, "everything's ok."
That last thing was a lie, I could tell. She was worried about something and she hadn't been worried about it when I left her last night. If it had nothing to do with her family back home Joanne must have told her something that worried her, that would explain why Joanne had been acting strange, "what's wrong with Joanne?" I asked.
Olivia looked surprised, "I didn't say there was anything wrong with Joanne. And she doesn't want you to know."
"So there is something?"
"I promised I wouldn't say. Please don't make me?" She asked me.
She knew I couldn't say to her, "fine." I sighed, "just tell me she'll be alright."
Olivia hesitated, I didn't like that, "she'll figure it out. It's Joanne. She always does."
That answer didn't fill me with confidence and I told her that.
"Just don't tell her I said anything, please." Olivia took my hands.
"You told him?" Joanne stood in the doorway looking very betrayed.
"No! Joanne I didn't!" Olivia ran after Joanne as she ran upstairs.
I sat awkwardly in the kitchen not sure what I should do. I didn't know if I should follow the girls and tell them what had happened or give them their space to figure it out.
I decided to give them their space.
Carol came downstairs and told me she was going to work.
After almost 45 minutes Joanne and Olivia came downstairs together. Joanne looked like she had been crying.
"Is someone going to tell me what's going on?" I asked.
"No." Joanne answered harshly.
"Ok.." I said. Whatever it was I figured I would find out eventually or it was some boring gossip that was only interesting if you were Joanne.
"I'm not going out today. You two go have fun." Joanne said.
"Are you sure?" Olivia asked, "I can stay here with you if you want." She offered.
I didn't know if she was offering to stay here with or without me, but either way I didn't like the sound of that offer.
"It's alright." Joanne shook her head, "I want time to think, anyway look at his face. I don't think he liked that sound of that! Go have fun." She hugged Olivia.
