The group consisted of three boys and one girl.
Eunwoo, Hyunjin, BamBam and Tzuyu.
All four were twenty-two years old, had met during the apocalypse and had decided to stay together as a team. There were originally three other members, two of Tzuyu's friends and BamBam's best friend, but they had died when there had been a zombie attack while they were sleeping.
Eunwoo had explained in a whisper that the two of them still had to recover from what had happened and no one knew BamBam's real name, he told him not to be upset if he received bad answers from BamBam, because he was like that with everyone.
Jungkook had nodded, in any case he couldn't care less. He was there to find Taehyung not to make friends.
He knew he had to be careful with his words, every time he had mentioned his husband, people had decided to push him away and that was his only chance to see him again.
The house the boys were staying in belonged to an old lady, the furniture was old and it was very small but it had the necessary things.
Hyunjin had told him they had been staying there for almost three weeks and they had filled it with supplies, it had become their refuge and they felt safe because the door and windows had iron locks.
From inside he couldn't see out, they had used cardboard boxes to cover wherever there was a space to look out or be seen by the zombies.
They had been smart. Jungkook thought.
If he stopped to think about it, he probably didn't know how he would handle an apocalypse at twenty-two.
Back then he spent his time between classes or rolling around in the sheets with Taehyung, watching anime or playing video games."It was very difficult for us. When everything happened we were in class and when we went out to eat we found chaos." Said Tzuyu.
"We hadn't seen the news and didn't understand what was going on. Suddenly students were jumping on teachers and there was blood everywhere. All our friends were eaten alive in front of our eyes and no one was stopping to explain." She continued and kept her gaze down to the living room floor.
"My university was two hours away from home and I didn't know what happened to my parents. I tried sending messages but no one ever replied."
Jungkook knew that situation well, he had experienced it on his own skin. It was something he never wanted to experience again."I tried to go home, we all tried but the State closed the borders between cities to reduce the damage, but they didn't solve anything."
The girl's gaze flickered to the light of the room, her eyes were empty and there was so much pain inside. It wasn't the look a girl her age should have had. None of them should had that look and Jungkook couldn't even imagine their pain.
Ripped from their youth so soon, they had found themselves in the middle of an apocalypse where to survive they had to kill and watch their family and friends die.
"I heard they call you rebels, may I know why?" Jungkook asked this question when he was left alone with Eunwoo, the others had gone to rest and the two of them were standing guard.
"Who did you hear this from?" The boy laughed subtly.
"Around. They say you're rebels."
"They sent you to kill us?"
Jungkook's gaze grew confused.
"Why would I kill you?""Because we are rebels."
"This is not a valid reason. I am not a murderer. Killing monsters and killing people are two different things."
Taehyung had told him never to doubt himself when he wrote he felt like a monster because he killed to survive.Eunwoo sat down on the chair in front of the sofa and nodded at those words.
"Those monsters were human before though and we still don't know if when we kill them they suffer like we do.""Yeah I'll go out later and ask them if it hurts when I smash their heads with my bat." Jungkook said ironically.
"Even if they did suffer, they ruined our lives."
"I can't argue with that."
The room suddenly became silent, but not awkwardly so, Jungkook saw the younger boy lost in thought and he waited for him to speak first."They call us rebels because when the apocalypse began we decided to fight and not run." He said.
"But a lot of people decided to fight, what's different about you?"
Jungkook was one of those people and yet they had never called him a rebel."We asked questions besides fighting."
"Questions?"
"Yes, questions. Have you ever wondered how this all started? Why we are in the middle of an apocalypse? Who is behind all this? If it's only happening in this country or all over the world?"
In reality, Jungkook hadn't wondered shit, all he did was kill and search for Taehyung, he never had time to think about questions like that.
"What does it matter to you to know or not? It's happened now, the important thing is to survive."
"It changes everything. Everything. These people ruined our lives. It wasn't enough all the problems humanity already had, they had to add more. When you create something this dangerous, you have to think about the cure."
"So what? What are you going to do when you find these people?"
"I'm going to kill them."
