It wasn't till the next day, after Zarina got a good nights rest, despite all the calls that came over the loud speaker in the night, that her name was called. It had came for her to grab the map, dress in her new uniform, which had been nicely laid out on her bed side table for her, and make her way down to the med bay for her examination. Only a tiny bit nervous, she strode out of her room and down the cool and empty white hallway to the med bay. There was only a couple of turns she had to make and was not all that hard to find her way. She was super smart though after all and most things were easy for her to learn quickly.
As Zarina entered the doors to the med bay, she could see the exam table across the room from her along with many noisy machines, test tubes and tables full of strange utensils and unusual objects in jars. It didn't look much look like a clinic, it looked more like science lab. The doctor had not yet seen her, busy handling some strange object that like a large egg. He seem focused on what he was doing, that she cleared her throat to get his attention.
" Oh! You are here! Fantastic. " He said as he sat the object down reaching out his hand " Pleasure to meet you, I have heard good things about you" Zarina gave a cool smile and shook his hand. The man seemed nice enough, in his white coat and his black hair that swooped to one side.
" Thanks, I think" she wasn't sure who he had talked to, but it sure was nice to hear some one had made sure to note of all her hard work.
" I am Doctor Alaster. " he said with a smile pulling his hand away then patting a folded gown on the examination table. " If you wouldn't mind, please put these on. ." Zarina nodded and snatched up the gown. She walked behind the changing curtain behind the table to change. " I am sorry for all this, but it has become protocol. "
Though she had already have a physical before coming here, she could understand their being protocol from another place, just for safe measure. After having a rampet virus run through their own space station she knew they would do anything and everything to make sure it didn't happen again. So this was no more strange than that. Taking her clothes off she took the thin gown and tied it about her body. Surely this was all over kill but she went with it, and walked back out from behind the changing screen and hopped up on the table.
The table was not as cool as she expect on her bare bottom, having nothing on under the gown, as she scooted back so her legs hung over the edge. The doctor's back was to her as he messed with a few things on the table across from her. "If you be kind enough to lay down for me, I will be with you in a moment as I get the utensils sterilized."
Zarina's lip curled in the corner as curiosity set in. What was this whole examination going to entail? It seemed with the fact he was gabbing some very strange items off his table full of utensils that it wasn't going to be any kind of typical check up and this worried her. She laid down, crossed her legs and stared up at the lights above her, chills sneaking up the back of her neck, her arms covered in goosebumps, her body trembling slightly with nervous anticipation.
A moment later, the sound of the cart on wheels, which carried the many items the doctor had for his exam, startled her, and she arched her head up just slightly to get a look. There was mostly your typical items like stethoscope, the little hammer doctors use to check your reflexes, a thermometer, and blood pressure cuff. Also, there was one of those tools in which they use for pelvic exams and a needle. Zarina's eyes widened. Why in the world would either of those be need in an exam? The doctor must have noticed the fear in her eyes, and spoke in his soft calming voice. " Oh don't worry my dear, those are only if I find any parasites. Nothing at all to worry about."
Zarina took a deep sigh to calm her nerves, the cool air in the room cutting right though the thin layer of material that made up the gown she wore. The doctor pulled on his gloves, moved closer to wear she laid and began his exam. He checked her pulse, her blood pressure, her temperature, and her heart. Then he examined her eyes, ears and mouth. "All good so far" he said putting away all those tools back on the table. " Now hold still my dear, I must examine your body for parasites as they could be anywhere. All part of the exam I assure you. And don't worry, should I find any, I have a sedative to make it painless to remove."
Cringing at the though of him finding any thing, she clenched her fist and closed her eyes as he began to run his fingers over her body. He started with her head, turning it this way and that, but seemed to find nothing. Then he went down her neck and over her shoulders. Nothing. From there he pulled back her gown which made her gasp as he lifted each breast to look under them. He seemed to spend a little to much time there then perhaps he should, but Zarina just bit her lip an didn't say a word. In all Honesty she had a lot of breast to examine, though it wasn't something she felt she could brag about.
The doctor then went on down her chest and down across her taunt flat stomach, a seemingly satisfied smile on his face, then moved to her hips quickly after, a bigger grin crossing his thick lips. He nodded, turned to his table where there was a notebook and jotted something down. Zarina gasp, worried he had found something, something that was gross and attached to her body she some how missed while showering. When he was done writing he went straight back to running his hands down her leg and to her feet. Shaking his head he turned to her with a half cocked grin that was almost Menacing." I am afraid my dear you indeed do have a Parasite. Small now, but will grow if not handled properly"
Zarina gulped, squeezing back tears as this seemed to be just some horrible nightmare. " So, what now" she muttered weakly. The doctor turns to grab the needle, filling it with what she could guess was some kind of knock out meds. Trembling in fear, she began to tear up.
" It will be alright," the doctor cooed calmly to her, trying to calm her as he pulled the needle closer to her. " When this is all over with you will feel like a whole new woman" though his voice was soft and comforting the slight hint of amusement on the doctor's face when he spoke did not settle her nerves at all. Grabbing her arm he quickly injected the needle in her arm " It will work quicly, now rest" he said his voice fading in the distance as she slowly started to drift off to sleep. Though before she faded completely she faintly heard him say one last thing "rest, for when you wake you will need the strength." there was no time to analyze what he meant by that as her mind drifted of to dream land and all was black.
