"So, are you ready to work with me today?" Dr. Salchow asked them.
Ajax nodded sheepishly. "Again, I am so so sorry for my behaviour. It won't happen again, Scout's honour."
"Were you ever even a boy scout?" Lumine asked him sceptically.
"That's against the point. Anyways, Dr. Salchow, what's on the agenda for today? Another individual session? Or, ooh, I know, can you prescribe us combat therapy?"
Lumine put her face in her hands, with Dr Salchow raising an eyebrow. Lumine quickly jumped in to explain: "Since I do jiu jitsu, he's dying to fight me."
Dr Salchow nodded in understanding. "Sadly, Ajax, I won't be prescribing 'combat' therapy. I don't even think that's a legitimate therapy practice."
"Well it's super good for, you know, releasing all of that excess pent up energy."
"Will you let me finish Ajax?" Ajax pouted, but let Dr Salchow continue. "A big part of what forms us as people, as well as what shapes how we deal with relationships, is our families, whether its positive or negative. So today, we'll be talking about your families."
Lumine turned white. "Do we have to do this today?" She asked, worry etched into her voice. Ajax wondered why - it must have something to do with that mysterious twin of hers that he wasn't even meant to know about. Is he like, crazy overprotective or something? He thought to himself.
Dr Salchow nodded. "Yes Lumine, you've been dating Ajax for 9 months. He deserves to know, right? But we'll Ajax go first in this exercise."
Ajax grinned. He loved talking about his wonderful family. Even if he felt like he didn't deserve them and was the black sheep of the family. "Ok." He compiled his thoughts before continuing, and then went into the same speel that he had gone through with Lumine earlier. "So yeah, that's my family!"
"That's great, Ajax. Can you tell us about your relationships with your family members?"
Ajax froze for a split second before laughing it off. "Sure can!" He smiled to the point where it couldn't be genuine anymore. "My little siblings and I have the best relationship. I love them to pieces. I don't get to see them nearly as much as I want to though, because of... school. Yeah. As for my older siblings, we're a bit distant because they have their own families now too, but I try to text them as much as possible." Not like they ever really reply, Ajax thought.
"What about your parents?"
"I'm a true Mama's boy through and through. I would do anything she asked, to be honest. And as for my dad, we had an excellent relationship when I was younger. We would go ice fishing every weekend."
"Had?" Dr Salchow asked. Lumine was looking at him now, her large amber eyes full of emotion."Uh- yeah. Our relationship is pretty normal now, you know! Not anything special." He tried to pass it off as a laugh.
"Alright, moving on. Thank you for your answers Ajax. Lumine, it's your turn now."
Lumine took a deep breath, shaking just a little. He didn't know why, but Ajax's impulses told him to rest his hand on her leg to calm her down. So he did. And if it bothered her, she didn't show it.
"Sadly, I don't have the happiest of 'family' stories. It's why I've avoided telling you about my family for so long." A month isn't that long, he thought, but then he remembered how they had been 'fake dating' for nine months.
"Take your time, Lumine." Dr Salchow said encouragingly.
"Have you heard of the Teyvat Airline 124 plane crash that happened in 2010?" Ajax nodded. "My parents were on that plane."
