"you know, tutoring is only after school. you don't gotta hang out with that loser all the time."

ymir said starkly as the four of your friends trotted to the lunch area, heels clinking and book bags semi-empty. this was said while explaining how the geek table was your choice of seating for the day once again. she'd initially been speaking of yesterday when not responding to her texts due to being out with armin.

it almost felt like you'd been on a complete high, remembering even walking through the door last night with a cheerful sigh. a happy sigh. a sigh with content after a long day of fun.

frankly, you wouldn't have responded anyways. ymir was notorious for sending millions of tiktoks or pictures she found hilarious. they often were not hilarious. the tall brunette had an odd sense of humor, not understood by most. the two who did understand were sasha and connie, which made total and complete sense.

"this has something to do with annie, doesn't it?"

hitch questioned with concern, placing a caring hand over your right shoulder firmly. if it hadn't been for all the people surrounding you definitely would've blown a fuse. in fact that's how it played in your head, completely and matter of factly stating how annie was the least of your concerns. that however was untrue, that chick pushed every button you had in all the wrong ways.

"annie? that guitar girl?" ymir questioned before lazily throwing an arm around historia, who'd been too caught up studying her cuticles to fully pay attention "what'd she do?"

"nothing!"

it was a way of putting up a wall, not wanting annie to earn the satisfaction of knowing she'd actually managed to light a fuse up your ass. if there'd been any mention of the matter from two days ago, hitch would sure have a field day letting the blonde know.

never — and i mean never — let hitch in on any personal details unless you want them to be aired out to the world.

"he may be a loser, but he's my friend now so id appreciate it if you'd keep the attitude to yourselves."

the four girls could not believe their reiner-lover friend just admitted to being acquainted with her history-loving tutor. those were like two totally unrelated sides of the friend spectrum. one occupied their time with boys and shopping while the other occupied their time with video games and marine life.

something was definitely going on in the background, and hitch's concerning excuse of a supportive grin proved just that. the other three were sure to interrogate her later.

on the other hand, for you it was like turning a new leaf. mending one's ways as they said. it was about time things changed, starting with opening doors to new friendships. who cares what others thought anymore, people's understanding of your character couldn't get much worse than it already is after all.
