the two royalty walked around together, the awkward silence making the two silent and uncomfortable. in all honesty, leo kind of regretted partnering with capricorn. he was a bit too loose for her ideal partner and he didn't think too much before stepping anywhere.

capricorn, on the other hand, thought leo was too up tight. she walked around cautiously and stopped them at every turn they took. he felt like he was wasting time and they were better off walking in slow-mo.

the two didn't know each other very well but they very much disliked the thought of continuing this trip together alone. with that in mind, capricorn decided to lighten the awkwardness by offering a conversation.

the best way to make things less awkward between two people is to get to know each other better, right?..

"soo..."
"shut. we need all ears open and mouths closed to hear every little sound."

...

see?

capricorn sighed heavily, dragging his feet so the exposed roots came off the grassy ground.

"stop that! you might set off a trap!" leo exclaimed, staring at the roots he undid.
"calm down. we're doing just fine." capricorn rolled his eyes, getting a bit sick of this behaviour.

"well can you at least act like you care about our lives?!"

there was a momentarily silence, leo storming off in rage afterwards. capricorn frowned and followed leo, making sure to 'act like he cared about their lives being booby trapped when they were in a shattered forest.'

and the two fell into silence again.

"hey.. im, uh, sorry if i offended you in any way." capricorn admitted, not liking the thought of him doing something rude on accident. leo didn't respond at first, focussing on the path ahead of her.

"it's fine." short and simple.

a small frown made its way to his lips, turning back to the path again. he silently thought to himself, asking if he should change how he acts so the trip between the two is more relaxed.

and he thought no.

for years, throughout his truama, he has put up a mask to change how he acts, look and speak to please others but he never was pleased of himself. it was painful to wake up every morning and to plaster on a fake persona that it took ages for him to stop.

he isn't falling back into that habit ever again.

"i. take it back. im not sorry. you are ungrateful for anything i say and you're so up tight you might as well be reincarnated as tight pants, it's in the clothing's name anyway." capricorn lashed out, furrowing his eyebrows together.

leo stopped in her tracks, turning to capricorn. there was a hard glare on her face, obviously offended by his remark.

"what do you mean, up tight?! im trying to keep us alive while you skip around like you're in a meadow of flowers!"
"you'll think the flowers in that meadow are carnivorous or something!"
"shut up!"

the two spun and stomped ahead, determined to end this trip and get back with the others. slowly, while travelling together, they drifted apart to keep as far away from each other as possible.

but the forest had other ideas.

the room started darkening and the two were unable to see each other unless walking close together. their anger sizzled out as they realised the slow fog and shadows growing around them.

soon, leo had to put up her palm and made a fire.
"what the.." the two of them looked up to see the trees had bent into each other, making it so no sunlight can come through.
