Emily's pov:
"Hot chic in the house!" The P.A said. I smiled as everyone ran towards me. I had a walking stick with me. "Welcome back." They all said.
"They ticked a nerve in my leg. I may not walk straight again." I said. Otis looked at me. "Candidate, get her a chair!" Otis yelled. Mills got a chair for me. "Thanks Mills!" I said.
"Wait, wait, wait." I said after sitting down. "I think it's getting better. Yeah!" I said then stood up and walked perfectly fine.
Everyone laughed and Otis ran over and hugged me. "Easy, bro. Still hurts." I said. He loosened his grip a little.
-
We were getting in the truck when Otis looked at me. "I'm sorry. I said I wouldn't leave you but Chief said I had to come in for shift. I wanted to be there when you got discharged." He said.
"It's OK. Mills picked me up." I said, pushing Mills arm. He smiled at me. In the corner of my eye I saw Otis glare at him. This can't be good.
-
There was no fire. Just part of a building that collapsed. We lost someone. That took pretty hard on Severide. "Hey, you were good out there today." I said to Mills. "Just good? Ouch!" He said as we got in the truck.
"Fine, you did amazing, Mr. Mills." I said. "That's more like it." He said and smirked. "Hey, Em." Casey said. "Don't even try. Matt." I said
When I was in hospital, Matt never came to see me. Now I know he doesn't care about me. "Hey." Peter said. "Want to get a drink after shift?" He asked me. I nodded.
We got back to the fire house and I took Otis Into Casey's office. "Your ok with me going for a drink with Mills, right?" I asked him. He smiled, but I knew it was fake. "Yeah. Yeah, that's fine. It's not like we're dating or anything." He said.
"Are you sure?" I asked him. "I'm not your boyfriend, so you don't need to ask me if it's ok or not, Em." He said. "Right, yeah, ok." I said. He smiled the same smile again and we walked out.
-
After shift Mills and I went to a bar and got a couple drinks. He was going to walk me home because I didn't live that far away. "Hey, Emily." Pete said. "Yeah." I said. "I like you." He said. He then kissed me. I pulled away.
"I'm sorry, Peter. I will say this in the nicest way possible, but we're just friends. I kinda like someone else." I said.
He stepped away. "Yeah, yeah I'm sorry." He said. "Don't be." I said. "We're going to be great friends, don't worry." I said. "Rather be friends then nothing." He said. I smiled and walked me to my house.
-
I called Otis and hopped on my bed. "Hey." He said. "Hey. You sound upset, you OK?" I asked him. "Yeah, yeah fine. Just been stressed out trying to figure something out." He said. "What is it?" I asked.
"Will you be my date to the barbecue?" He asked. "And watch you try and get girls all day. Yeah, why not." I said. "I'm not going to try and get any girls. Well I will. I'll only be trying to get you." He said.
I blushed alot. "Awh, Otis, that's so sweet." I said. "Of corse I'll go with you." I said. "Great! I'll pick you up!" He said. I smiled and went to sleep happy. I really like Otis.
-
The barbecue came and everyone was waiting for Mills. I was sat next to Otis. They saw Mills and started clapping. He was wearing his blue uniform. I laughed with them. "Don't you look cute." I said to him. He smiled.
