Chapter 13: When Black Meets Percher

Here it is. The FINAL Chapter of Volume 2 believe it or not. 

It might seem like I might be rushing quite a bit, but there is a reason why the [Demon Lord] fight ends quite quickly.

You have to keep in mind that this is a fanfiction and thus has a different focus than the original story. 

The main point of this arc was to develop the characters' relationships, mainly Hajime and the girls. As such, the conflict here of this Arc was NOT about the [Demon Lord], but of Asuka's dilemma (as well as some other girls). 

If you want the full details which focus on [Pest], then I'd advise you to read the novel. Of course, I WILL provide basic explanations so you won't be lost. But the full details can be found in the Light Novels of the story.

With that out of the way, let's get to Chapter 13! The first - and last - chapter which features the fight against [Grimm Grimoire Hamelin].

A Frenzy...

That was the mind of the fair maiden known as Asuka Kudou.

The poor girl didn't get a wink of sleep.

She tried her best. To forget about it and just rest. But no matter how hard she tried, she just couldn't.

Before she knew it, the borders were tainted red from the horizon of the morning sun.

She slowly opened her door, revealing eyes that surprisingly made her look less tired than one would expect.

Asuka quietly scurried through the hallway. For some unknown reason, the [Thousand Eyes] hallway seemed way more uncomfortable than yesterday. She wanted to quickly get her food before everyone woke up, especially Hajime.

The girl knew that the black-haired boy in question was still asleep. That what he was known for after all.

Or at least... that's what she thought before opening the dining room.

To her surprise and unease, Hajime was already wide awake. In fact, he looked as if he nearly finished his meal - consisting simply of a bowl of oatmeal cereal with milk.

The girl never checked the time, but considering that the sun just came up, it was probably around 5-6 am in Earth time. To see a boy who sleeps 20+ hours a day awake when everyone else should be sleeping was quite the surprise. 

Hajime looked at her, his golden eyes becoming slightly more visible.

He then looked back at the food. Standing up, the boy began to clean his food all of a sudden.

Asuka couldn't do anything but stare as he lifted the bowl and began to walk away.

While she remained silent, the girl's mind was in a frenzy.

She wanted to talk to him so badly... To tell her she is sorry... To ask for his forgiveness. But her body just couldn't move.

As soon as he left, Asuka felt nothing but bitter taste in her mouth. She cursed her cowardly self, further realizing how weak she was.

'Maybe this was why I couldn't control those rats...'

Any breakfast Asuka prepared herself lacked any good flavor.
