"Huh... This place is?"

My whole head shook at the sudden impact that landed on my lower jaw, crashing my teeth together.

My body also grazes through the hard ground. I could feel the familiar sensation of my skin being scratched open through concrete in my palms.

Right, whenever I had fallen off my bike at home, this was how it had felt.

The single glimpse I had caught before crashing down was reconfirmed when I stood back up and examined the surroundings.

A bright, scorching sun. The warmth spread across my back along with the blinding gleam that was also applied to the statue before me. Everything suggested the temperature of an ending spring and early summer.

I can feel the stares of people around me, but their eyes moved away just as quickly as their sight was laid on me. Their gaze was focused on someone even more peculiar.

People, not just people. People with long, pointy ears, and people with animal ears growing out of their heads as well.

Elves, and... demihumans? Was the suggestion my mind gave at this sight.

Just as I patted the pebbles off of my clothes, I was sent stumbling as a figure pushes me away.

It was a young boy, perhaps in his early stage of adolescence, with pure white hair that felt unnaturally...natural in this unfamiliar place.

This...his name was... Bell! Right, Bell Cranel! That show, I watched a while back!

"Miss Eina!" The familiar voice filled with excitement. Stains of red liquids on his body splattered on the vendors that lined the street.

This... could it be possible..?

After asking indirect questions to the locals, it can be confirmed. This city was Orario, the place where gods had descended from the nearly perfect lives in heaven, the only city that possessed a dungeon. The city where adventurers roamed.

How? Why? What do I do now? Questions of the kind filled my mind. But the emotion I had felt the most was excitement.

How can I not be excited when this one in 7.9 billion chance of a winning lottery ticket had fallen into my hands?

But before I make any rash decisions, it would be best to analyze my situation and figure out my plan for the future here. It feels that I'll be here for a while after all.

Currently, I sit in the public lounge of the guild. My clothing was out of place and attracted countless pairs of eyes. Well, some of them were just a single eye though.

This place was another world, a place where people with senses of values different from me reside. A place I need to survive in from here on.

I'm not skilled in any work that is valuable around here. I am nothing but a mere high schooler that had some above-the-average grades. But the Pythagorean theorem and formulas of the sort weren't going to be of any use here.

My best bet was going to be in the dungeon, as a starter adventurer along with the rest of these goons. Even so, I can't be confident of my skills, after all, there has not been a single sign of there being a special skill or ridiculous high stats given to me.

At worst, I would die on one of the floors. No matter how I'd even gotten here, whether it was by the whim of gods or the other, that question comes later.

One last problem, a familia. To have better chances of surviving in the dungeons, one is essential. I can't just gamble with everything on the line that I would get a second (technically third LOL) life when I die here.

Chances are I would die in the dungeons without a falna, and without stats to a certain extent, the guild would not allow me on the lower floors. Not to mention I currently have no residence, no weapon of choice, no armor, and no proof of identification.

Ahhh, all of a sudden a different world doesn't feel so fun anymore...

For now, I'll register at the guild. As for familia... the Hestia familia will remain my last choice. I don't have the luxury of being involved and fooling around with the main character at this level of power. That kid ends up in a lotta dangerous situations.

At the counter for registrations, the receptionist greets me.

"You've been sitting there for a while now, I don't recognize your face. As expected, you're here to register aren't you?"

"Yes."

"Well then, any registration? Birth certificate, travel toll, anything of the sort. Adventuring isn't for anyone."

"I have none. The documents I brought with me fell into the lake along with my weapon and spare clothing. I have a deadly fear of drowning, so I left it and came here empty-handed as you can see. I was just pondering what I was going to do over there in the lounge chairs before coming here."

Smooth, so smooth it might've sounded suspicious. I've practiced over and over in my mind before this after all.

"Very well, a drifter it is then. And your name?"

...... even though I went through the trouble of thinking up an excuse, how could you just ignore my good efforts like that...

"Name.... August would do just fine. August... Aeto."

No way I was going to use my real name. This sounds close enough to the way people here are named.

"Since you're a supposed traveler, I'm guessing you're not in a familia yet?"

"...no"

My mind was once again filled with worry for my future in this world. A light tap wakes me back to reality.

"Here you go. Your adventurer's license. Careful not to die in there. Considering you aren't in a familia and all."

How sweet, someone worried about me. I wonder if she was able to read my face.

"Anyway, drop in again in a bit to find out about your dungeon advisor. Nothing else to note aside from that."

I thank the receptionist and take the license with the anxiety decreasing a bit in my heart.

The palms of my hand were covered in dirt, the color of fresh blood could still be seen.

For now, let's find a lodging. Tomorrow, I can try my luck in the dungeon. Even if I still cannot obtain a falna by then, the work of a supporter should be enough to support me for the moment.

With a somewhat solid plan in mind, I leave the guild building, refreshed with confidence. The sky was blue with an orange hue in the distance, the sun was already setting.

Lodging, food, and a familia. With these goals in mind, I head toward the church Bell and his goddess were said to live. The first problem I needed to solve was shelter.
