8.2 Failure

As expected.

That was the only comment my mind made.

Nothing was in my favor. Indeed, nothing was.

Defense aside, I had no way of attacking.

The spear can pierce its skin, but the damage it did was so little it was devastating.

With a single swing of its fist, my body is sent crashing into the walls.

With a step of its foot, I die once more.

My stats were not enough, my skills weren't polished enough. I was too weak.

All I could do was endure. Endure the pain of having my bones crushed over and over with no way of countering.

It was, devastating.

Everything was being displayed before me. My heart was pounding frantically every time my eyes lit up, only for them to stop beating once more.

The giant's smile was full of glee. It was enjoying itself.

Why did you make me do this...

What was the point in making me suffer with no results?!

I don't understand. If I was going to lose anyway, why did you still command me to fight this monster, 'K'?!!

The Goliath takes me into its hand, gripping my body with a force that suffocated me with pressure.

"DAMMIT!"

One, last, desperate attack.

I'd rather not spend the rest of eternity here, stuck as the newest plaything of this sadistic giant.

My spear pierce through the skin of it's hand. My other hand pulls out the dagger and rain a chain of stabs into his fingers.

"OOOOOOOAAAAAR"

As if in pain, it grips me even harder and throws me. The wave of air forced my eyes close. I could only prepare for impact.

Sure enough, before I knew it, the sudden shockwave as my body made contact with the walls made my brain go blank for a moment, then my body drops.

But what met my senses weren't to my expectations, I was dropping too low.

I squint my eyes open. I was in a tunnel, at the very end of the tunnel was the 18th floor, it was safety.

The Goliath had thrown me almost directly into my passageway to safety.

But I didn't feel glad. I didn't feel happy.

I failed

Was the single thought that repeated itself in my head as my body tumbled downwards like a  lifeless ragdoll.

I was powerless, so much that I only got to survive due to the opponent's mistake.

My body flings into the air and finally onto the grassy floors of the safe zone. Right into the circle of mages that were on their mission to heal Bell and the party.

Their eyes turn to me in surprise.

Two elves, and one human girl.

Names, names, names

I rack what is left of my brain cells for their names.

Right, Lefiya, Riveria, and Leene.

"This one... is he a part of their party as well?"

"I think so."

"Well, then we should probably heal him too."

Heal?
