Nessa
As the engagement brunch went on, I continued to introduce Levi to my other family members and friends. Was it awkward as fuck? Yes, it was extremely awkward considering most of them were giving me the cold shoulder or just straight out didn't care.
It was now a little after 12 and people were starting to filter out.
We were now sitting at the extremely long picnic bench styled table while my mother and father are standing at the head gushing about how great my sister and her soon to be husband were. This toast has been going on for almost three minutes now.
Leaning back in his chair, Levi rests an arm on the back of mine and whispers in my ear, "I can think of million other things I'd rather be doing right now."
I'm staring at his lips as he talks and I can feel his body heat radiating off him from how close he was now leaning into me. Holy hell. For the past hour or so Levi had been flirting with me. I'm sure it was just to keep up the ruse that we were actually together, but my heart still stuttered at the thought.
Picking up a grape from the tray in front of me I say, "and what one of the million things be?"
He watches my mouth as I take the grape between my teeth and eat it. He shifts in his seat still staring at my mouth as he speaks, "I can think of a few that have to do with that mouth of yours."
I feel an instant blush take over my cheeks. Wow! Okay so he went there. Not that I was complaining. Okay, okay relax. I tell myself this is just for show.
It's my turn to lean closer to him as I rest a hand on his thigh. His gaze follows my movements and his eyes fly back to mine. I can see heat in them, heat that my own eyes no doubt mirror.
"Mm, that definitely sounds better than listening to my mother rant on." Other people were now chatting as well so I wasn't worried about people overhearing our conversation.
"Doesn't it?" He reaches up fiddles with the end of one of my waves.
How did I go from not being able to stand this guy to having a full on crush on him! In the matter of a few weeks!?
As soon as these three months were up I needed to get as far away from Levi Thompson as possible. Before I fall hard for him. If it wasn't already to late by then.
"Vanessa! Vanessa, come here." my gaze moves from Levi's to my mothers as she hollars for me. I see her stand toward the back door with my sister and her fiancé.
Great I'm sure my next task will be fun. I give a Levi a quick grin, "come on. Whatever it is they want you can help me."
But before I can take of for them he stops me with a grasp to my elbow, "you don't have to do everything they say. They clearly don't appreciate you." He looked so sincere I felt like crying.
I shook of my emotions and plastered a fake as fuck smile on my face, "it's fine."
If I had a dollar for everyone I've had to say those two words I'd be rich by now. Like buy a big White House rich.
I continue the short walk over to my mother and sister with Levi following right behind me. After today I needed to figure out a way to get over my little crush.
When we get a few feet away my mother waves a hand at me to hurry up, "Vanessa could you hurry up! Goodness this day isn't about you."
"I never said it was." I roll my eyes.
My sisters pinched look says it all but of course she also has to verbally say it as well, "you are so selfish! Just do as your told without complaint for once! It's not that hard, the rest of us seem to do it just fine."
