The room was still dark even when the sun had come up. The curtains were closed and the air inside the room was stuffy.
There was a double bed in the middle of the room where Wuxie was asleep. But not in a deep sleep. He was twisting and turning. Beads of sweat covered his forehead and neck. He was groaning and moving his hands around as if he were trying to pull himself out of the hold of something. And with a loud gasp, he shot up from the bed.
Wuxie was panting heavily as if he were running miles for real. He wiped his forehead and neck hastily, still breathing heavily. But Wuxie wasn't shocked.
He looked to his right where on the nightstand he puts the glass of water every night. He picked up the glass and drank down the water in one go.
It's been 3 years. This is how Wuxie's day starts. Wuxie wasn't a child born with luck and luxury. Although he was born into a family of kind people...they were short-lived. At the age of 10, Wuxie was orphaned. From that day till now, Wuxie only had days of loneliness and pain. But Everything worsened after he was 18.
Along with the problem he had to endure to make a living, he was accompanied by a disturbing nightmare. He was alone in it...in a place, he is so unfamiliar yet somehow familiar. It's always dark in there. He can never see anything around him. But as if it's real, the creepy sounds of the night haunt him. And when it starts to get stuffy and feels like something is lurking around him. He heard Some hissing sounds, the dried leaves and twigs move, and... two eyes were preying on him.
Wuxie tried to stand up and run away but like he was roped to the ground, he couldn't move from there at all. That's when his breath gets heavy, the air just gets emptied and he starts to feel something winding up around him, crushing his bones and squeezing out air from his lungs. When the pain gets to him maximum and his life is pulled out from him...Wuxie will wake up.
He sees the same thing every night, again and again. He never once saw where he was or what's that thing with him there. Wuxie even tries to recall the images but it's just black. Everything. He doesn't even know in what state he is. If it is something from his childhood, or not.
Today also, Wuxie closed his eyes and tried to recall it. But suddenly...
*thud *thud *thud
Startled, Wuxie jumped from where he sat on the bed. "Wh- Who is it?" Wuxie asked in his weak but morning-hoarse voice.
"Your dad!" Said the voice from behind the door.
Wuxie sighed in relief as he heard the familiar sound. He got up from the bed pushing away the white blanket on him. "Pangzi. Why are you cursing me so early in the morning?"
"Early morning? It's already past 8. Wake up you, sleepyhead. Don't you remember? We have to check the house today. Don't waste time." The guy named Pangzi instructed as he walked away.
Wuxie smiled forgetting all the things that happened just before it. He was glad to have someone like that fatty, who wasn't his father but someone who cared about him more than any family.
When Wuxie entered college, from which he was graduating soon, he wanted to have a part-time job to cover his expenses. Until now, all his education was covered by a trust which is a part of the orphanage Wuxie stayed in. But when the children age 18, they have to leave the orphanage and find a living independently.
Wuxie being the best student was allowed scholarships and allowances and got to study at the no.1 university in the country. He also stayed in the college dorm for his first two years. But the problems an orphaned boy has to bear in such a college was fretting.
