Mr. Jones didn't show up to Band today. It frightens me.
There's always the possibility that he's sick or injured or at a conference, (He goes to a lot of those.) but I have a heavy gut feeling that it had something to do with Friday.
I sat at play rehearsal looking for a possible solution to the problem. I don't think it was some strange coincidence, oh no. What if it was post-traumatic stress or whatever? The substitute would've let us know if he was sick or injured. (Probably not, because he could pretty much assume we'd jump at opportunities to make it better, which could be annoying sometimes.) I hope he's not injured, at least. I'm pretty sure he isn't.
But, why was he gone then? But here's the question that was burning in my mind in the first place:
What caused him to panic at the sound of splitting wood?
