I raced across the street, Cicile closely behind me. We shoved through the crowd of people and bolted into the music store.
When we arrived I was not surprised to see the Wood Splits were attacking. There was sheet music everywhere, and once beautiful musical instruments were now broken and bent from a nasty fall to the floor. Display shelves and tables were toppled everywhere, and their contents were spilled all over the room.
"Cicile, stay close," I cautioned, "These things get more and more aggressive every time they are spawned."
"Who spawns them?!?" she replied with a confused look of terror.
I swallowed hard. "The Drum--"
I was cut off by a Bass Monster raging toward me, a wooden fist clenched that surely meant my certain doom. Luckily, I was smarter than him.
He raised his splintered hand right above my pounding chest. I stealthily pulled my Conductor's Baton out of my pocket and vaporized the beast just before it had murdered me with its thorny arm.
As the pile of saw dust I had created floated away, I advanced further into the store, Cicile following close behind me. I kept my baton in my hand as I zapped more monsters and continued on. I hid behind a table for a moment while Cicile caught up to me.
"Why are they all coming at you?!?" Cicile hollered over the noise of creaking wood and destruction.
"I'm their arch-nemesis!!!" I yelled in reply.
"WHAT?!?"
"It's complicated, I'll explain later!" I said, still facing Cicile.
"Conductor, behind you!!!" she screamed. But it was too late. The Cello monster she had spotted had already made a huge gash down my back. I yelped in pain and turned around to vaporize the thing, spotting my blood stained on its spiny finger.
When I had completed the task it had gotten even harder to move along due to the burning slice down my spine. But somehow I saw it through and was able to complete my mission.
Once all the monsters were gone, Cicile raced up to me. She had fallen behind.
"Conductor, your back!" she greeted with a concerned sigh as she hopped over sad shelves and broken instruments.
"I'm fine, my dear," I replied, adjusting my newly torn suit, "Thank you for your concern, but we need to find anyone who's trapped in the wreckage."
Cicile nodded and joined me in my search. I looked and looked until I settled upon the front desk.
I bent over to find a girl a bit younger than me, curled up in a ball, shaking and whimpering in fear, her eyes tightly squinted together, tears staining her cheeks.
"Cicile." I whispered, signaling her to come towards me. She turned to give me her attention and slowly walked towards me. She leaned over the desk, a sad expression spreading across her face.
To my surprise she walked over to the other side of the desk and knelt down next to the frightened creature.
"Hello?" she whispered, calmly.
The frightened girl slowly opened her beautiful, emerald eyes that sparkled from her tears. She quickly sat up on her knees, wearing a light blue dress slightly stained with blood around the kneecaps.
"Please, don't hurt me!" she whimpered, slowly backing away from Cicile.
"It's okay." Cicile cooed, brushing the girl's red-orange hair behind her ear, "We're not here to hurt you, I promise."
