"You'll love it Luz. Hex Stitch is the main fashion store on the Boiling Isles!" Amity exclaimed as she wrapped her arm around her human's shoulders. Luz shook her head as she laughed, "Fashion store? That sounds cool... then we should get some food."
"I already thought of that." Amity grinned as she pulled out her wallet. "You don't have to pay, Mittens." Luz protested. "This shopping date was my idea... I wanted to cheer you up, I know how hard yesterday was for you."
The day before had been the anniversary of Luz's dad passing away and she had spent the whole time trying to distract herself from her grief. Luz squeezed Amity's hand and smiled softly, "It was... you made it so much easier, I just wish I could at least text my mom."
Amity returned her smile. They continued to walk in comfortable silence, towards the store. "I think seeing you try on all those cool clothes might cheer me up." Luz joked, following Amity into the dimly lit store. Amity laughed and led her girlfriend through the aisles.
Strange witch music was playing and there were racks and racks full of clothes of every color and style. Amity waved at the witch by the checkout who smiled. "You were right, Amity! This is so cool!" Luz gushed as she watched Amity walk up to one of the racks.
"This would look so pretty on you, Luz!" She exclaimed, holding up a simple purple dress with wide sleeves and glyphs along the neckline. "You think so? That looks really cool... I wonder if the glyphs can work attached to fabric like that." Luz said, admiring the dress, and smiling.
Amity grinned flirtatiously and hung the dress over her arm. Luz blushed and scanned the shelves of t-shirts and crop-tops, "How about this, Amity?" She asked, holding up a black crop-top with a metallic purple crescent moon on it. "This is so you." Amity laughed, "I'm happy you know me so well." Luz nodded lovingly.
Luz turned to wander down a separate aisle and Amity made her way to the hoodies, which were hanging from a metal bar near the back of the room. She moved a couple out of the way because she noticed a large dark blue hoodie with a small cartoon cat (with three eyes) on it.
Amity gushed, 'Luz will love this!' She thought, putting it underneath the dress on her arm. Just then, Luz ran up to her holding a dark purple blazer with green gems on it, "I found this! You have to try this one!" She exclaimed, waving the jacket in front of Amity's face. "That's so pretty!" "I know."
"Look at this! It's a hoodie with a cat from the human realm on it... minus the extra eye." "Aw! I love it! We should try this stuff on now!" Amity nodded in agreement and pulled Luz by the hand into the changing room.
"Oh... you can go first." Luz said, handing Amity the clothes she found for her and leaving the space. Amity chuckled as she changed into the black crop-top and let down her hair. Then she paused for dramatic effect before popping out from behind the changing room's curtain.
"Wow! That looks so awesome on you! I also love your hair down... it's almost all brown now." Luz exclaimed. Amity blushed and spun around a little bit while Luz continued to admire the shirt. Then she gasped as Amity pulled the fancy blazer on over the crop-top and ran her hands through her hair.
"YOU LOOK SO HOT!" Luz exclaimed loudly before covering her mouth, embarrassed. "Thanks, Luz..." Amity managed, covering her red face. And changed her clothes back. "You try on this stuff." She said, handing Luz the hoodie and dress.
Luz smiled, took the clothes and disappeared behind the curtain and into the pale green changing room. Amity stood there waiting for her girlfriend to change and blushing profusely.
Luz stood in front of the shiny mirror and slipped the purple dress on over her head. After a second or two, she remembered the dress had laces up the back and tried to tighten them. "Hey Amity? I need your help with this dress... it's a little harder to put on then I thought." She said softly.
"Okay." Amity responded and slipped into the room. Luz could see Amity close her eyes as she helped tie the laces and she laughed. "Thanks, Mittens." They both stood there smiling and Amity was taking in Luz's dress, "You look so PRETTY!" She complimented. "Thanks." Luz responded, grinning.
She spun around the dressing room before picking up the cat hoodie and pulling it on over her dress. "Cute." Amity complimented, patting her girlfriends shoulder. "I'll pay and then we can go get some food." She offered as she turned to let Luz to change back into her other clothes.
After, they brought the clothes up to the counter and Amity paid the witch and they waved goodbye. "Thanks so much, Amity!" Luz said, hugging her girlfriend outside the store. "Your welcome, now let's go get something to eat." She responded and led Luz, smiling and holding shopping bags, deeper into the market.
Arriving at a vendor, Amity gave Luz a mysterious grin and ordered something for them both. The demon running the place thanked her and handed them both a medium sized silver box and the two carried it to a nearby table.
"What is this?" "Something delicious." Amity promised as she opened the box to reveal a dish full of strange but tasty looking demon food. On the side there was also a small slice of fairy pie. "I'll give it a try. Thanks Amity."
The two spent the rest of their date eating and chatting about school and life at the Owl House. After a while they noticed the sky beginning to darken. "I have to get back home I think..." Luz explained as she hopped up and grabbed her bag.
"I'll walk you." Amity volunteered as she picked up her bag and they took off into the woods. The talked warmly but spent most of the walk in a warm comfortable silence. A little bit away from the front door, (and hooty) Amity shyly turned Luz to face her and she kissed her goodbye gently.
"Thanks for hanging out with me today, Luz. I had a lot of fun." Luz felt her face warm up as she hugged her girlfriend and took off towards her door. Before she went inside though, she turned and waved goodbye to her witch.
