A/N - While I am trying to following some factual events in Queen's history, it isn't always entirely accurate and this is fiction at the end of the day!  THANKS

Song suggestion One Rainy Wish by Jimi Hendrix

---------------------------

It was the last day of their holiday and it had been spoiled by the rain.  Rich, Pete, John and Denise decided to pass the rainy afternoon playing a game of Monopoly.  The game was spread out on the dining table and tensions were running high as Pete managed to acquire the most real estate and was raking it in.  His stack of paper money larger than the others.  Rich began protesting his largess.

"It's just a game..."  Wendy reminded the rowdy group at the table.  She carried a fresh mug of tea with her as she walked to her bedroom at the cottage.  Finding Roger and Brian and Freddie seated on the double bed and looking over a sketchbook.  Finding this room much quieter than the other.  Taking a seat to observe the trio having a meeting.

"What about this one?"  Freddie questioned as he flipped the page in the sketchbook to show them another idea.  Roger and Brian both looked over the rough drawing of a logo.  Finding it suitable but a bit lackluster.  Hating the name.

"I think we all agree we need a new band name..."  Roger remarked as he glanced at Brian for support.  "I'm not keen on that though..."  he said honestly.  Brian nodded agreement.

'Yeah...it's doesn't do much for me either..."  Brian chimed in.  "I still like Build Your Own Boat..."  he offered.  Wanting to use his own idea.  Roger's face fell flat.

"Not that again!"  Roger complained.  He turned to Freddie and wore a insistent expression.  "The Rich Kids is much better...don't you agree Freddie?"  he challenged.  Hoping to get their new singer on his side.  Brian panicked for a moment as he considered Freddie siding with the blond since they now shared a room and had become fast friends.

"I know you both like your ideas..."  Freddie responded diplomatically.  "But I think a one word name has more impact..."  he explained.  "Like Smile..."  he used as an example.  "It was easy to remember and meant something meaningful..."  he remarked.  Freddie flipped some pages on his sketchbook.  Deciding to show them the idea he thought was his best. It was just the band name idea sketched in a lettering style he had created for their use.  But it had more panache than the prior option.

"I like the lettering..."  Roger stated as Freddie grinned at his opinion.  He turned the page before Brian could comment.  Showing them the name he actually hoped they would adopt.

QUEEN

"Queen?" Brian and Roger said simultaneously.  Their tone reflecting surprise and possible derision.  Freddie was prepared for it.

"Before you both shit on the name...you need to consider the impact this will have!" Freddie defended.

"Oh...I imagine the impact it will have is everyone thinking we are a bunch of queens!"  Roger argued.  Brian wanted to laugh and for a moment realized what that meant.

"But you'd certainly remember the name!"  Freddie pointed out.  "The intention of the name is to refer to being regal and high in stature..." he explained.  "It being a bit touch controversial is just good for business!"  he challenged.

"I quite like it..."  Wendy chimed in.  "I'd remember a band called Queen..."  she contended.

"Exactly!"  Freddie responded.  "It conveys a sense of splendor and majesty..."  he stated.  Looking intently at his new band mates.  "It represents our flamboyance and outrageousness..."  he argued.
