When I was still in the hospital, I always looked forward to the day I wouldn't think about work and exhausting shifts.

I was watching Grey's Anatomy on my laptop when Ate Lilia sent me a message. She's inviting me to have lunch with her at her office. I was thinking about Mom. What if she comes to Ate Lilia's office without prior notice? But before I could decline Ate Lilia's offer, she sent me another message.

Ate Lilia:

Hindi pupunta si Mom dito. She's currently out of town so don't worry.

Dahil bored ako ay mabilis akong nag-ayos at umalis.

I stepped out of my unit as soon as I'm done. He was busy talking with someone else on the other line that he didn't even notice me when we entered the elevator.

I pressed the floor button of the lobby and stepped back.

"Ground floor," I stiffened when he spoke. He's arrogant enough not to say please so I didn't move an inch to do what he says. Siya ang pumindot ng sarili niyang floor. Bahala siya sa buhay niya. People like him have to learn their lesson one of these days. From what reaction I saw from him yesterday, I started to have this urge of pissing him off all the time.

He cleared his throat but I just quickly glanced at him from the corners of my eyes before I straightened my gaze up to the closed elevator door. He doesn't have to speak twice because he knows what I'm doing. I remain still and quietly waiting for the door to open. I can't stand being with him alone in a small space. So small that our scents mixed up in the air.

After a few seconds, I silently gasped when I noticed he was already in front of me. I felt the warmth of his body. His back was facing me and he casually pressed the ground floor button. I could feel every inch of my muscles tensed because of how near his body was to me. I thought he was going to step away from me afterward but then he slowly faced me. I looked up at his face and his eyes were piercing my soul, the kind of look that sent havoc on my nerves. He's inches taller than me so he slightly bent down his body to see my face. My heart skipped a beat. My nails were digging in my palms when I noticed how near his face was to mine. Our lips almost touched.

"Petty," he said breathily. I could smell the minty scent in his breath which made me want to close my eyes but instead, my forehead creased and my eyes widened realizing what he just said. What the hell?

A ghost of amusement and satisfaction is now evident on his face as if he won a battle. He eventually gave me a smug smirk. Humorless smirk. A dangerous one.

When I heard the ping sound of the elevator indicating that I'm on the right floor, he moved his face away from me. I silently exhaled the air out of my lungs when I noticed I forgot to breathe. He was about to step back when I kicked him right into his precious balls. His automatic body response was to flinch and touch his aching groin. I'm surprised that he didn't whine but a groan of pain escaped from his lips.
