The Life of Julie Swan Book III

Chapter Five

I sat in the backseat of Edward's Volvo as he drove Bella and I to the treaty line. He was iffy about taking us to the wolves but after me ripping him a new one he started keeping his thoughts to himself. As soon as he stopped the car I climb out with my hand laying subconsciously on my ever growing belly. It was very noticeable in my Henley. 

I smiled spotting Paul leaning against Jake's rabbit. I rush over ignoring Bella and Edward as they talked. I gave Paul a big hug causing him to laugh hugging me back. 

"You've gotten bigger." He smirked.

I scoff playfully while smacking him. "That's very rude, Paul Jackson Lahote." 

He gave me a smirk before looking towards Bella and Edward scoffing. I turn and see them making out intesnley and I knew it wasn't Bella's idea because she can only stand a certain amount of PDA. Rolling my eyes I turn to Paul.

"What are we doing today?" I asked. 

"We're visiting my father then going to a bonfire." He smiled.

I grinned rushing over to Paul's truck climbing in.

We pull outside Paul's house and I hop out before he could shut off the engine. I spot Jackson sitting in a rocking chair on the porch drinking a beer. I rush up and giggle as he choked on his beer. I sat down in the chair beside him as Paul walked up.

"How far along are you?" Jackson asked. 

"I'll be three months on the twenty-second." I smiled. "Due in December. Could be a few weeks earlier since ya know." 

Jackson nodded smiling. "I have a good feeling about this child." He says. "How's Jasper?"

"He's good." I smiled. "More protective since I got pregnant."

I sat beside Paul as we waited for Billy to start the story of the tribe legends. I let out a tired yawn. I don't know if I can actually stay up for this. I jump slightly as  cold arm wrapped around my waist. I look up and smile seeing Jasper sitting there. He pressed his lips to my forehead before pulling me completely on his lap. I smiled brighter snuggling closer to him.

"Seattle is a state of terror." The news reporter says on the Cullen's tv.

CNN was playing and a female reporter was standing in front of Pike Place.  

"Police are baffled by the escalating murders and disappearances." The reporter continued. 

I was snuggled against Jasper's side watching the TV. Emmett was on my other side sitting on the back of the couch. I looked up as Bella entered with Edward. Bella walked over and sat down on Emmett's other side with Edward following behind. 

"Look who survived the dog park." Emmett joked causing me to smack his leg. "Need something for those flee bites."

I couldn't help but laugh at that but also smacked Emmett again but putting electricity into it causing him to his jerking his leg away. 

"I'm good." Bella chuckled. "Thanks."

"Seattle?" Edward asked taking the attention back to the tv. 

"It's getting worse. We're going to have to do something." Carlisle sighed.

"Alice still hasn't had any visions about who's doing this." Edward states.

"So we track him down and kick his blood thirsty ass." Emmett shrugged. "Let's go now. I'm bored as hell." 

I let out a laugh shaking my head frowning when my stomach lurched. Suddenly a small trash can was held in front of me. I took it from Edward and empty my stomach contents as Jasper held my hair and rubbed my back. Once I finished Rose smiled gently taking the trash can while brushing a hand along my cheek and handed me a breath before heading out the room. I pop it in my mouth sucking on it.

Suddenly Edward looked at Jasper and I. 

"I didn't think of that." Edward says. "But.. yes, it makes sense." 

"Guys." Bella and I say simultaneously before we gave each other exasperated looks. 

"Tell us, Jasper." Carlisle said.

"It takes more than one of our kind to cause the damage they're reporting." Jasper says his southern accent becoming thicker. "Quite a few more. They're undisciplined, conspicuous--" 

"Newborns." Edward cut him off.

I was sitting her practically drooling over Jasper's accent.

"Like," Bella says. "new vampires?"

"In their first months after the change." Edward stated.

"That's when we're at our most vicious, uncontrollable, insane with thirst." Jasper says pulling me closer while kissing my forehead.

"Something to look forward to." Emmett smirked at Bella causing her to blanche. 

"No one has trained these newborns, but this isn't random." Jasper says.

"Someone's creating an army." Carlisle says with a look of realization on his face. 

Jasper nodded as Emmett stood on the couch, enthusiastic.

"Oh, now we definitely gotta go." He says before letting out a yell as I punched the back of his knee with vampire strength causing him to tumble off the couch.

"Wait, an army?" Bella asked. "Of vampires?"

"There haven't been any newborn armies in over a century that I know of." Carlisle stated. 

"There is now." Jasper says holding me closer. "And they've been created to fight someone." 

"We're the only clan even close to Seattle." Edward says. 

"Regardless, if we don't put a stop to it, the Volturi will." Carlisle says. "I'm surprised they've let it go this long especially with their Princess at harms way."

"Maybe they're purposely ignoring it." Edward says. "Or even behind it. When we were in italy I read it in Aro's mind. He didn't want me to see, but it was there.. He wants Alice, Julie and me but he wouldn't ever force Julie to be with them, Marcus would have his head. Our gifts would shore up his power. But he knows we'd never choose him as long as our family is alive. An army could solve that for him."

"We can't wait two weeks for graduation." Bella says causing me to glare at her. "You need to change me now."

"You'd be a liability as a newborn." Jasper says to my sister. "Unable to control your instincts. An easy target."

Carlisle laid a hand on Bella's shoulder. "There's also your father to consider and your mother. How terrible would it be if you suddenly disappeared?"

Bella stays silent meaning she agreed with him. 

"But.." Emmett says. "We are gonna kick someone's ass right?" 

I chuckled shaking my head at my Soul Brother. Of course.
