Being Mistaken For The Target

Robert Mark has spent much time being part of a team of individuals picked to protect the planet of Earth from evil forces of nature. But never did he expect to be training someone he literally just met while traveling through Boston. She was a young black woman who needed his help in protecting herself from creatures he made enemies with a long time ago. Her name was Taya Woods and she was growing in strength every day he taught her near his new home in Summerville.
Being the type of person he had become, Robert was under the assumption that she'd struggle to be someone stronger. But Taya always faced every new learning lesson with ease. It almost annoyed Robert at how good her mind was. The things his old trainer John used to put him through would often cause him to bruise on certain parts of his body. And yet, Taya somehow made it look all too easy. Little by little, Taya was turning out to be a stronger person than Robert ever hoped she'd become. No matter how many surprises he threw at her, she always found a way to bounce back.
"So," Taya asked a nearly worn out Robert. "How am I?"
"Well," Robert began getting back onto his feet. "Your training isn't over yet. While you've got the power aspect down, you still have a lot to learn about safety. These aliens are smart creatures. They'll find a way to get you without you even seeing it coming."
"Great." Taya rolled her eyes. "So no matter how much training you put me through, my mind is still not ready? How much longer until I'm ready to get back to my job? Huh Robert?!"
"Come on." Robert tried calming her down. "I'll help your mind with a few quick steps. But much like the training my old master put me through, we've got to rest our bodies. Come on, let's go lay down."

Robert and Taya didn't actually do any resting at all. The moment the two were able to step inside, they found themselves completely attracted to each other. One look was all it took for the two to end doing things he and John never did together.
"Your body has definitely changed since the last time I got a good look at it." Robert said, remembering how incredible Taya's body had become since the training began. "I guess I'm doing something right. So... wanna go for round two? I'm all for it if you are."
"I'm good to go." That was all it took for both Taya and Robert to redo the events they had just partaken in not even two minutes ago.

Now, you may be wondering how these two had even gotten together or why Robert was training this young girl. Well, it all began about two months ago. Both Robert and Taya were looking for love and they just so happened to have swiped right on each other during their time on a dating app called Bumble. Taya was the one to make the first move since the males weren't allowed to message first. With her impressive moves to make the ex-Chosen One want to move forward with a date, they had dinner. But it was what happened after they had paid their bill that transpired the events taking place now...
"So I've been meaning to ask you something," Taya had finally gathered the courage to ask her date about his previous employment. Robert had suspected this would eventually come up.
"Here we go." Robert said to himself as his date nervously began to talk.
"You worked as a Chosen One for nearly 10 years." Taya began.
"If my memory serves me well." Robert agreed.
"And my memory is serving me pretty well about that too." Taya awkwardly uttered. "Anyways, you protected us for years. You even came close to death in most of those battles you went through. Like that one in Moscow, I was sure y'all were going to die. Thankfully you didn't. But you did all of this for us."
"Yes," Robert was confused as to where this was all going. "I did."
"So why did you quit?" Taya came out with the question she'd been burning to ask. But that question didn't have enough time as Robert eventually learned that someone suspicious was approaching them from behind Taya.
"Shit." Robert cursed as now had to go into fighting mode. The only bad part of this was that his staff was back at home. He had no other defense against whoever was coming besides his fists. Taya even wondered what was going on until she looked behind Robert and saw a suspicious person approaching them. She nearly screamed at the sight of it. Robert knew he couldn't get into a brawl right now, so he grabbed Taya by the hand and began to run.
The two individuals were quick in trapping them. There was no way out of this, other than fighting. The individuals rushed at once to attack. Robert shoved Taya down as he blocked both attacks with his hands, but the two gained the upper hand in the fight by sending their legs into Robert's stomach, hurting the young man. He hit his knees, holding his stomach. Taya saw her only line of defense defeated and nearly cried. The two stepped in front of her, thinking of whether or not she should have been killed for witnessing this attack. Luckily, Robert was able to get back up for another round. He subdued the two attackers, but it only caused more trouble for Taya.
