Robert and Taya were officially broken up. The relationship that the two had attempted to build many weeks ago came to a close. While they would remain friends moving forward, all Taya could think about was finding herself a new man to be with. She wasn't a picky person, but when it came to having company, that was a huge requirement for her at the moment. When she wasn't considering who would be her next boyfriend, she was working. At long last she could work and not have Robert in the back of her mind. She was free to come up with things for the children to do everyday that made her happy. Finally, things were going back to normal for the young black woman. Taya could work and think about her love life all at the same time. Especially now that the school had hired a new substitute teacher for the week, Taya was much more interested about coming to work.
The substitute was an attractive young man who carried a lot of confidence in himself. His smile made anyone want to smile by just seeing it. He had caught Taya's attention the moment he arrived in the classroom beside her. All of the teachers noticed him and all of them wanted him. Somehow, Taya had caught his attention. Whenever he could, he'd take a sneak peek at Taya and when the two would meet eyes, he wouldn't break contact very fast. It was attracting Taya to him each and every time it happened. She wasn't sure if he was even into her, but the signs were definitely telling her that he was.
"Look at you!" Gabrielle approached Taya from the classroom across from her. "Got the new substitute checking you out."
"Thank God!" Taya celebrated. "I thought I was the only one that noticed!"
"Yes girl!" Gabrielle celebrated. "You should talk to him!"
"What?" Taya was conflicted. "I just got out of a relationship! It's too soon!"
"Then you better tell him that." Gabrielle said as she watched the substitute making his way over to them.
"Why?" Taya asked but found out right as he got face to face with her. "That's why."
"Ladies." The substitute said. "How's your morning going?"
"Good." Taya and Gabrielle both said at the same time.
"Good." The substitute said with a smile. "Ms. Woods right?"
"Yes." Taya nearly fainted hearing him say her name. "That's me."
"Can I ask you something?" The substitute asked. "I'm pretty new to this teaching stuff and I might need your help with a student."
"Oh!" Taya said. "Why, of course, I can help you."
"Thank you." The substitute said as he began to lead her to the classroom. Taya turned to Gabrielle, nearly showing off too much of her excitement to be getting some one on one time with the substitute. They entered the classroom and Taya immediately noticed how well the students were acting. From the looks of it, he didn't need her help at all. He had them all busy doing things that wouldn't require him to be hands on. Suddenly, Taya went from being excited to being suspicious.
The substitute took a seat at his desk and pulled a chair directly beside him. "Would you like to have a seat?"
"Thank you." Taya said as she sat down beside him. "Um... I'm a bit confused. You said you needed help with the kids."
"Yeah, that was a lie." The substitute said. "I actually need your help with someone a bit more intense than kids."
"Oh?" Taya was definitely confused now. "Like what?"
"Aliens." The substitute said. "See, I did my research before making my way up here. You've had your hands full with aliens for a while now."
"I have." Taya said.
"Well, there's a group that got their eyes on you." The substitute said. "One that I've been tracking for some time."
"That's not a problem anymore." Taya said. "I disposed of their leader a few weeks back."
"Ha." The substitute laughed. "You definitely did not. Maybe a small faction of aliens, but not this group I have been chasing. They've been around for years and unfortunately have kept themselves hidden. They're very smart at what they do and their missions have been done without fail."
"I don't understand." Taya was thinking a lot right now. "There's more aliens after me?"
"Yes." The substitute said. "But don't worry. I'm here to take them down."
"Where were you weeks ago?" Taya asked. "I sure could have used you then?"
"I'm a busy person, Ms. Woods." The substitute said. "Aliens just don't kill themselves. Someone has to get rid of them."
"Get rid of?" Taya asked. "You're that Alien Killer guy!"
"Colin Jones." The substitute officially introduced himself. "But Alien Killer is also a name the media likes to call me."
"No way." Taya said. "You're the Alien Killer."
"I am." Colin didn't understand why she was acting surprised. "And you're in need of my help. So, tonight we're going to start the first phase of my plan."
"Whoa." Taya snapped out of her thoughts. "Plan? Tonight? What are you talking about?"
"One of their own has been working here for a week now." Colin revealed. "He's disguised himself as the janitor."
"The janitor?!" Taya couldn't believe this news. "I thought he was just checking me out this entire time."
"You're an attractive woman, Ms. Woods." Colin admitted. "But this time your looks aren't what someone is after."
"You think I'm attractive?" Taya nearly felt flattered.
"Stay focused, please?" Colin asked. "We're going to lure the alien into a trap. I want you to be the last person out of here tonight. Say good night to him and make it look like you have no idea what's going on. It should leave him wanting to take charge and attack you. I'll handle things from there."
"That's your first phase?" Taya asked. "Make me bait?"
"It's my plan." Colin said. "If you don't like it, you can figure out how to stop them yourself."
"Okay!" Taya gave him. "I'm in."
Colin was happy to hear this from Taya and patted her on the back. Taya rose to her feet and exited the classroom. If she thought she was going to be able to work for the rest of the day, that thought flew right out the window. For the rest of the day, Taya only thought about this plan. She even worried about the fact that a secret alien group had been targeting her without her knowledge. She believed that she was free from this threat, but that was not the case. Things could have been a lot worse if Colin hadn't shown up. The thought of her dying without knowing how to fight it was frightening.
