It quickly spread on the global news that Europe had been taken over. A video taken in Warsaw, Poland of a man being violently attacked by a group of people, people who didn't look alive took over the internet and concerns grew about this virus.
"We beat COVID though, didn't we?"
"We never beat covid we just slowed it."
People were talking about the virus in Europe. Everyone knew that it was going to spread in Asia and Africa. Would north and south America be safe?
People thought it would be fine. They thought that the minute someone was infected with the ice virus they would immediately turn, they were dead wrong. After much research, scientists found out that the infection takes two hours maximum to completely take over the human body. That means people who fled from Europe to America could possibly be infected.
One blazing hot Saturday, some friends decided to meet up at the local ice cream shop. Thinking because it was so hot they would go get some ice cream, but the shop was closed. "Ugh, let's just go to my house instead." Said one of the friends.
"That would be a wast of time, you don't even have a pool we should just go to the public pool." Said another one of the friends.
"The public pool is disgusting! Who would want to go there?" Said the last friend.
"I have my air conditioners in! We can cool down at my house."
"Salem, we've heard the Jared the spider stories." "I don't want to see Jared in real life."
"Oh come on Alex! I haven't seen a bug in my room for months!"
"Alex is right, I bet your room isn't even clean anyways."
"Your talking Ford?"
Soon the weekend passed. It was Monday and it was the last week of school. Everyone was excited to get out and have there summer break, but no one was expecting what was going to happen that very week.
The week was going normal, until Wednesday in 3rd period. This was science class for the three friends. Salem, Alex, and Ford all sat at the same table usually messing around for the first few minutes of class. They watch a ten minute news video made by CNN in class before every lesson. On the news segment it usually shows the regular stuff people have going on until they got to the topic of the ice virus. "We are getting reports that the ice virus has entered the United States of America, stay safe and wash hands regularly." Kids all around the class starting whispering to each other. "What? I thought it would never reach here!" Said one kid. "Same! We took all the precautions, and with how nasty that virus sounds it mind as well be the zombie apocalypse!"
Soon the rest of the day went by. Some kids decided to go to the beach, even tho it was against the law at the time. The kids lived up in New Hampshire, where they went to the local beach. As they were getting in the water some police men stopped them but they didn't listen. One of the kids had a cut on her leg and as she was getting in the ocean she felt a sting, the contaminated water had entered through the wound.
The kid didn't say anything about it as she was getting out with the rest of her friends. The kids didn't get into much trouble and got let off with a warning. The person who got contaminated slowly started not feeling well, soon the aggressive behavior began. She began to attack every person in sight, and infected them too. Something was off about this person tho, her instinct as an infected would be to try to kill the victim but she seemed smarter. She only bit them to infect the other person that was unfortunate enough to encounter an infected person.
This doesn't mean that everyone that she infected would be the same though, it means that they would evolve...
Little did people know that this virus was capable of mutating into bigger, faster, stronger monsters.
